I am so grateful that TRE was featured on the news this week! If you’re curious, we are gathering tonight, 2/10 at 6 pm for a TRE workshop where I will guide you through gentle, body based exercises designed to support nervous system regulation and release stored stress and tension. I would love for you to join us and experience the deep sense of calm that TRE can bring.

A local Tallahassee workshop is teaching TRE exercises that help release built-up tension through natural muscle tremors. Neighbors say this body-based technique is helping them find peace.

We still have a few spots open for our TRE (Trauma Releasing Exercises) Workshop tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb 10th from 6–7:30pm at the Abundance Wellness Center.

And a little bonus news I’m excited to share… I’ll be talking about TRE tonight on ABC 27 News! I hope you’re able to tune in and hear more about how this simple, body-based tool can support us in managing the chronic stress and tension.

Would love to see you tomorrow or have you watching tonight. 💫

Hey Facebook Friends! I wanted to share that I am going to be hosting a free TRE workshop for teachers next month on Saturday March 21st, from 11am-12:30pm at the Abundance Wellness Center.

Teachers give so much of their energy, care, and emotional presence every day, often while holding high levels of responsibility, pressure, and stress. This workshop is offered as a gift of appreciation for the meaningful work you do and as a space to tend to your own nervous system alongside fellow educators.

To help keep this space reserved for teachers, registration is private and requires a password. Please email me at ashley@discoveringpeacewithin.com
if you would like to register.

I’m excited to share an upcoming Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE®) workshop on Tuesday, February 10th from 6:00–7:30pm at Abundance Wellness Center. Due to a growing interest in this work, I’m grateful to be able to offer another opportunity to experience TRE in a group setting.

This in-person workshop offers a gentle, body-based approach to releasing deep-held stress and tension. Through a series of simple, accessible movements, you’ll learn how to activate the body’s natural tremor response—an innate mechanism that supports nervous system regulation and release.

Once learned, TRE® can be practiced on your own as a self-guided tool. Many people appreciate having something they can return to outside of sessions to support ongoing regulation, grounding, and resilience.

TRE® is often experienced as calming and restorative, with participants commonly reporting a greater sense of ease, steadiness, and connection to their bodies afterward.

If you have any questions or are curious whether this workshop might be a good fit for you, feel free to reach out. I’d love to share this work with you.

Talking to kids about ICE can be tough, but here are some tips for ages 3-18! Remind them they're not alone and there are things you can do together as a family to help, like deliver meals, making a shopping list, picking out groceries, and coloring pictures. These small actions can make a big difference when we feel helpless. Caring is showing compassion.

People-pleasing often starts out as a way to keep things calm or avoid conflict, it's a learned behavior, usually from childhood trauma. But over time, it can take a real toll on your mind and body as your nervous system is no longer providing proper repair and restoration of your cells due to the underlying trauma.

Research shows that constantly putting other people’s needs before your own can drain you emotionally, blur your boundaries, and leave you feeling stressed and disconnected from who you really are. When this goes on for too long, the constant suppression of your feelings raises the risk of burnout, anxiety, and even serious health problems like autoimmune issues (driven by nervous system dysregulation). What looks like selflessness on the surface can actually wear you down from the inside.

The healing process begins with understanding where these patterns come from, often rooted in early experiences or fear of rejection. Real change happens when you start building self-worth from the inside instead of chasing it through approval from others. Learning how to set boundaries, saying “no” without guilt, and giving yourself permission to rest and recharge are all part of this shift.

Experts point out that moving away from people-pleasing is not about becoming selfish, it is about becoming whole. This can mean finding supportive communities and tools that make self-care feel sustainable. It can also mean processing traumatic events that began this pattern to begin with. Stepping out of people-pleasing is really about coming back to your authentic self.

New neuroscience research shows that children save their hardest emotions for their mothers because their nervous system physically changes in her presence. Brain scans reveal that when a child is reunited with their mother during moments of stress, the stress circuits in the brain deactivate up to five times faster compared to being comforted by anyone else. As the stress response drops so quickly, the emotions that were held inside finally spill out, leading to crying, meltdowns, or sudden emotional release.
This happens because a mother acts as a child’s primary “regulating force.” Her voice, touch, scent, and presence trigger deep biological responses that calm the amygdala and signal safety to the nervous system. Once the body no longer feels threatened, the child can let go of the emotional weight they had been carrying, even if it appears as overwhelming feelings.
Researchers emphasize that this behavior is a sign of secure attachment, not misbehavior. It means the child feels safe enough to express what they suppressed while managing the outside world. Mothers often witness the hardest emotions not because they cause them, but because they are the safe space where healing begins.
This insight reminds parents that emotional closeness plays a powerful role in a child’s neurological development. A mother’s presence literally reshapes how the brain processes stress, proving that love and connection are among the strongest regulators of a child’s emotional world.
