This man at my night job just said "Dream about me"... I said, "What did you say!?"

🗣AND HE REPEATED IT! 😭

But I'm so proud of myself because...

1. I think I hid my disgust well. 😬
2. I kindly rerouted by saying I don't sleep enough to dream. 🙃
3. I didn't tell his homeboy to shut up when he tried to double down on his behalf (he tried to say that I can dream whenever I get in bed). 🗣I SAID I DON'T SLEEP!! 😒
4. I only cussed in my mind. (I'm working on it)

Now I'm scared to go to sleep because he really wished a nightmare on me. 🫠

NGL, I’ve been told that it HAS to take a lot of confidence to wear what I wear (I’m assuming because I don’t have “THE” body). 🤷🏾‍♀️

Honestly, it doesn’t, though. What it takes is a commitment to wearing what FEELS good and the self love to not be overly invested in what OTHERS think looks good. 😌

I’m from SE FLORIDA, where beauty comes in sooo many variations. If I miss nothing else about home, it’s the diversity. 🌏

N. Florida (outside of the collegiate space) has a very narrow concept when it comes to a lot of things— including beauty, style, and talent. It’s like one person decides what everyone likes, and if you want status or inclusion, you have to like it, too. This isn’t about preference. It’s about conditioning. 🙄

I’m not saying this in a shady way, It’s just my personal observation. My individuality may keep me out of some rooms, but I truly believe that it’s the key to me landing in the RIGHT ones! So yeah, I’mma turn my swag on even if it turns some people off! 🙃🥰😘

🎭 I have tickets to the Nate Bargatze (comedy) show on Sunday. It was originally a gift, but plans shifted—and I’d still love to share the experience with (or maybe even gift it to) someone who’d enjoy it. I just want the night to be meaningful.

Three and a half decades in... I am still figuring this thing out. I am humbled by the awareness that what I know is but a fraction of what I have yet to find and could easily be swallowed by what I may never know. I can truly say that I am both proud of me and grateful to God that I'm still here-- AND I'm still standing... 🙌🏾🥹

34 gave me a chance to see and FEEL what it was like to not be in survival mode, to be soft, sweet, and saturated in my femininity. Last year was for me,  THIS YEAR is BY ME. I'm coming for everything that's mine-- everything God promised and whatever else he allows!!! ✨️

I'll never stop working on my being, but this year is going to be drenched in doing. I don't know what yet,  but I sense it. This year has new standards and new rules, but I'm ready. I'm determined to be my own superlative! 💪🏾

My birthday request is that y'all pray for me as I continue to evolve into the kindest, wisest, prettiest, finest,  most mature, most loving, most submitted, most attractive woman that I can be. 🙏🏾🥰

The challenge of being the "safe" friend goes far beyond the secrets you must hold or even the emotions you're required to put aside...

It's in the uphill battle of trying to create a safe space for people who are most fluent in trauma bonds. It's in knowing that you offer a safety that in many (if not most) cases, cannot be reciprocated.

The challenge is in the moments that require you to give freely what comes at your expense. It's in others accepting the safety you provide while rejecting the responsibility of covering you. Its between the rock of knowing what you know and the hard pace of NOT weaponizing what you know--- even in self-defense.

Being the "safe" friend requires you to love in a way that most are afraid to, but what it also demands is for you to show up for YOURSELF in the way that (some of) the people you love can't! Balance and boundaries are your lifeline.
