** Tune In Now: Empowering Parents**
**Understanding RTI/MTSS and Speaking Up for Your Child’s Academic Success**
Please join Parent Resource Coordinator **Glenesha Milner** on **Monday, January 12th at 1:00 PM (CST)** for an informative session designed to help parents better understand the **MTSS and RTI processes** used in schools.
During this session, we will break down what these systems are, how they work, and how parents can confidently advocate for their child’s academic needs.
**What is MTSS?**
MTSS stands for **Multi-Tiered System of Supports**. It is used when students need more than the standard curriculum. MTSS can support multiple areas of development, including:
* Academics
* Communication
* Behavior
* Gross and fine motor skills
**What is RTI?**
RTI stands for **Response to Intervention** and focuses specifically on academic support.
* **RTI Level I**: All students begin here and are responding appropriately to general classroom instruction.
* **RTI Level II**: Additional academic supports are provided when a student needs more help.
* **RTI Level III**: Intensive interventions are used and may lead to consideration of an evaluation for a learning delay or disability.
**Important for Parents to Know:**
RTI and MTSS are **support systems**, not barriers. They **should never be used to delay or deny an evaluation** when there is clear concern and supporting data.
This session is ideal for parents who want clarity, confidence, and practical knowledge to support their child’s success in school.
We will be presenting an AI version of our webinar,
“Alternative Dispute Resolution in Special Education.”
When parents and school districts disagree about a child’s special education services, it can feel overwhelming. The good news is there are multiple ways to address concerns—and many do not require conflict.
This presentation will cover:
✔️ Informal ways to resolve differences
✔️ Formal dispute resolution options offered by the State
✔️ How to prepare and clearly communicate your concerns
Our goal is to help families understand their options and feel confident advocating for their child, while working toward solutions at the lowest possible level and with the least conflict.

RTI (Response to Intervention) focuses on academic support.
Level I: All students receive core instruction
Level II: Additional targeted academic supports
Level III: More intensive supports and may include consideration for evaluation
