October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Here is what you need to know:
- In the US, 1 in 8 women have a risk of developing breast cancer, though it is not exclusive to just women.
- Risk increases by 50% if you have a mother, sister, or daughter who developed breast cancer.
- Treatment plans are unique based on each person’s case and needs.
- Breast self-exams, in addition to regular physical exams by a doctor, mammograms, ultrasounds and/or MRIs, all aid in the detection and diagnosis of breast cancer.
- Symptoms may include finding a lump or mass, color changes to skin or ni***es, changing breast size and/or shape, and swollen lymph nodes. However, some people do not have any symptoms, and that is why regular screenings are so important.
Bloom’s thoughts are with our clients and loved ones that have survived, are fighting, or have passed on from breast cancer.
If you are having any symptoms, please contact a medical doctor. You are not alone in this.
