This trend again because, for real! These all point toward the gut and should not be ignored

1️⃣ Days without p**ping — A full week without a p**p is not normal at any age — it’s a sign their gut motility needs support.
2️⃣ Always sick / congestion — Back-to-back illness is a sign the gut (where 70% of immunity lives!) needs help.
3️⃣ Eczema that keeps returning — Skin is an extension of the gut — repeated flares mean something internal is unresolved.
4️⃣ Behavior + irritability — Mood and behavior are directly linked to the microbiome, with a “gut-brain axis” connecting the two through neural, immune, and hormonal pathways.
5️⃣ Slow weight gain (with gut issues) — Gut inflammation affects appetite, digestion, absorption, and growth.
6️⃣ Reflux / grunting / arching — An imbalanced microbiome (dysbiosis) can contribute to reflux symptoms.
7️⃣ Food refusal / picky eating — An extremely limited diet or refusal to try new foods may indicate an underlying gut issue.
8️⃣ Back-to-back ear infections — When the microbiome is imbalanced and inflammation is high, ear infections keep returning.
9️⃣ Reactions to multiple foods — Rashes, tummy pain, mucus, diarrhea, or discomfort with more than one food = gut imbalance clue.
🔟 Dry, reactive, or sensitive skin — If everything irritates their skin — soaps, foods, weather — the gut lining likely needs healing.

Once we address the gut with the right nutrition, diet, and lifestyle, so many of these symptoms resolve.

This is one of the most common things moms tell me when they first come to me for help.
-They’ve been brushed off.
-They’ve been told it’s normal.
-They’ve been told to just wait it out.
-And often… prescribed a medication with zero root-cause discussion.

But when I look at their baby’s symptoms through a gut lens, the pattern is almost always the same:

Those symptoms are signals from the gut — usually low keystone microbes that should be keeping things calm and balanced. Low Bifidobacterium, low Akkermansia, low butyrate-producers…

When those good buggies aren’t there to keep things in check, the unfriendly ones take over — and that’s when we see, Skin flares, Reflux, Bloating, Mucousy p**p, Food sensitivities, Constant fussiness

Testing helps us figure out exactly where those imbalances are.
-We can absolutely course-correct this.
-We don’t have to wait and hope.
-We can look deeper, find the imbalance, and rebuild from the inside out.

This is how we set the foundation for long-term health… and most importantly, a happier child. 💛

In my practice, I always start by looking at:
✨ How keystone microbes are functioning
✨ Whether inflammation is present
✨ Digestion + nutrient absorption
✨ Solids exposures + microbial diversity
✨ Early patterns that explain WHY symptoms keep coming back
Once you know the root cause, everything starts to make sense.

🥚🍳 Infancy is NOT the time to shy away from eggs! Introducing these nutrient-dense proteins early and often can not only help reduce the risk of food allergies but also play a major role in infant feeding.

Here are 3 reasons why eggs should be a staple in your baby’s diet:

1️⃣ Nutrient Powerhouse 💪 - Eggs are packed with essential nutrients like choline, high-quality protein, and healthy fats that support your baby’s rapidly developing brain and body.

2️⃣ Texture Exploration 🔍 - From soft and creamy to firm and crumbly, eggs offer a variety of textures for your baby to explore and enjoy. This exposure helps develop their palate and encourages a lifelong love of diverse foods!

3️⃣ Versatility 🥄🍳🍞 - Eggs can be prepared in so many delicious ways, from simple scrambles to fun French toast strips. Making it easy to keep mealtime exciting and engaging for your little one!

By exposing your baby’s gut to a wide range of foods and allergens early on, you’re helping to shape their microbiome and lay the foundation for lifelong health. Plus, the more variety in their diet, the more likely they are to develop a diverse palate and enjoy a range of flavors and textures as they grow! 💚💙

👀 Let’s look beyond the skin and steroid creams.

Just like with many of these quick-fix solutions, they often don’t address the root cause...

Persistent eczema can signal underlying gut health issues because:

1️⃣ Imbalanced Gut Microbiome: An imbalance in good/bad bacteria can trigger inflammation throughout the body, including the skin. This inflammation often presents as eczema.

2️⃣ Leaky Gut: When the gut lining is compromised (from inflammation or infections), it allows toxins and undigested food particles to enter the bloodstream. This can cause an immune response that manifests as eczema and other allergic reactions.

3️⃣ Poor Nutrient Absorption: A healthy gut is essential for absorbing nutrients that support skin health. Gut imbalances can hinder this process, leaving the skin deprived of essential vitamins and minerals.

4️⃣ Immune System Dysfunction: An unhealthy gut can disrupt immune function, making the skin more susceptible to conditions like eczema.

If the time isn’t now to start focusing on your baby’s gut, then when is it?

It’s easy to start making healthier swaps in your family’s diet and lifestyle.

The truth is - there are no rules when it comes to farmer’s markets!

All jokes aside, I hate telling families what they cannot eat. I am all about adding nutrients in and making meals balanced and FUN!

At today’s market I got:

🌿Brussel Sprouts - these ones looked huge! I learned that most brussel sprouts are harvested too early and that’s why they are so small.

🧅 Leeks - they are in the onion family. To me they taste a bit sweeter than onions. I had some potatoes at home so I am thinking about making some potato leek soup 👀

🛸 Pattypan Squash - did you spot the white pattypan squash? I love discovering unique finds and playing with recipes. Pattypan squash also comes in yellow and green like zucchini and taste very similar.

🥒 Thai Garlic Pickles - could not pass these babies up!

🍞 Cinnamon Swirl Sourdough - more like sourDUH! This was a no brainer. My fiance requested French Toast sunday brunch and let me tell you it was 1000000/10!

What are some gut-friendly foods you plan on cooking this week? 👇🏼

Diversity is 🔑 when it comes to your baby’s gut!

I talk about this A LOT because it’s that i@portant.
I know I packed quite a bit into these slides 😅 but it’s this part of starting solids that I love teaching, breaking down, and making simple for families.

There’s a lot of conflicting info out there, and my goal is to make this process easy, effective, and actually doable. It doesn’t have to be complicated.

In so many cultures, a baby’s first food is mashed lentils mixed with veggies + gentle spices like carrot, pumpkin, turmeric, and a little ghee (sometimes mashed rice, too).
That one bowl offers:
✔️ Iron
✔️ Zinc
✔️ Fiber + resistant starch
✔️ Flavor exposure + microbial diversity

Things like THIS is what nourishes the gut from the start. Not sticking to the same 4 foods on repeat.

If you’re confused about where to start with solids — or you feel stuck offering the same foods on repeat — we can help simplify it for you.

In a world full of providers pushing for Miralax, I’m here to show you a different way to help your kiddo p**p! 💩

As a kid’s gut health registered dietitian, I take a different approach to constipation and other GI disorders.

Here, I show you how real food and nutrients can nourish and aid digestion without using quick fixes, like Miralax!

One of my favorite places to start is to ensure you are incorporating probiotic-rich foods in your family’s diet.

If you’re a cottage cheese lover (like myself), is the perfect afternoon snack. Pair it with some cucumbers or berries and you are working that prebiotic and probiotic ✨magic✨

Be sure to follow along for more ways to help boost your kid’s gut so they too can p**p without Miralax!
