Last Friday night, our Temecula team at PacificPro Physical Therapy traded in their therapy tables for bowling lanes and spent the evening enjoying some well-deserved team bonding!

Testing LSI (Limb Symmetry Index) is a key checkpoint when assessing quad strength in athletes returning from knee injury.

We’re comparing the involved limb to the uninvolved limb to quantify strength symmetry, helping guide return-to-run, return-to-sport, and performance progressions.

For most athletes, we’re looking for ≥90% LSI before higher-level plyometrics and sport-specific demands. But numbers alone aren’t enough — we also consider force production, rate of force development, movement quality, and confidence.

Objective data + clinical reasoning = safer and stronger return to sport.

Patient Shout-Out: Shawn | PacificPro Physical Therapy – Temecula

Strength. Grit. Resilience.

After a devastating accident at home, Shawn suffered a severe crush injury to his right leg, including a severed femoral artery and multiple femur fractures. He underwent emergency vascular bypass surgery, internal fixation, a month in the ICU, acute rehab, and months of immobilization.

In the moments after the accident, Shawn self-applied a tourniquet to his limb, a life-saving act of courage.

Since starting rehab, he has progressed from wheelchair ➝ walker ➝ cane ➝ independent walking, and is now crushing advanced strength training, including blood flow restriction (BFR).

BFR training allows patients to build strength using lighter weights by safely limiting blood flow to the limb reducing joint stress while accelerating muscle recovery.
