As a nurse practitioner working with petite women, I see this all the time:

The scale goes down…
But your body still feels soft.

So naturally, you think the answer is to diet harder.
But here’s the truth most women aren’t told 👇
When petite women constantly diet, we often lose muscle faster than fat.
Because our bodies are smaller, we already burn fewer calories than taller women. When we slash calories too aggressively, the body adapts by slowing metabolism and breaking down muscle.
The result?
• You look smaller… but not leaner
• Your metabolism slows down
• Fat loss gets harder
• And the weight comes back easier
That’s the skinny fat cycle so many short women get stuck in.
The solution isn’t more cardio or eating less.
For petite women, real fat loss usually requires:
✔ prioritizing protein
✔ strength training
✔ daily walking

She didn’t hate herself. She just didn’t know.
She didn’t know why she was always exhausted.
She didn’t know why she couldn’t stop thinking about food.
She didn’t know why she would “start over Monday” every single week.
She thought she just needed more discipline.
More cardio.
Less food.
More punishment.
What she didn’t realize was that her body wasn’t broken.
She was just never taught how to take care of it.
The girl on the left was doing the best she could with the information she had. And I have so much compassion for her. Because I know how frustrating it is to feel uncomfortable in your own body and not know how to fix it.
The girl on the right didn’t get here overnight. She learned how to fuel her body. She stopped starving herself and started nourishing herself. She stopped chasing quick fixes and started building habits that actually lasted.
She stopped fighting her body… and started working with it.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about learning, healing, and becoming the woman you needed years ago.
