💜 Today is International Overdose Awareness Day—a day to remember those we've lost, support those still struggling, and commit to ending the stigma around substance use.

Since 2020, Indiana has seen over 8,000 lives lost to drug overdoses. In 2023 alone, there were 2,130 overdose deaths statewide... a 17.1% decrease from the previous year, but still a stark reminder of the ongoing crisis. Fentanyl remains the leading substance involved in these tragedies, often compounded by other drugs like methamphetamine and co***ne.

Harm reduction is more than just safer use supplies. It’s a life-affirming strategy that shows up in all kinds of ways. 💊💬💖

It means access to mental health care without judgment.
It means talking about safer s*x, alcohol, self-harm, and survival.
It means showing up for people in the real situations they face, not the ones society wishes they were in.

Limiting harm reduction to drug use erases so many of the ways people care for themselves and each other. This movement was built to honor real life, and that includes all the messy, brilliant, and complex ways people get through.

We know the holidays can be a difficult time for a lot of people, and we want you to stay safe this weekend. We've put extra naloxone (narcan) in our Naloxbox and filled an extra box, too! These will be available 24/7 right outside our door for anyone to take. We love you and we care about you. 🖤
