HOW DOES SOMEONE KNOW WHEN IT IS TIME TO CALL HOSPICE?

Choosing hospice care is electing another pathway in a patient’s care goals. Hospice is designed to promote comfort for those living with a terminal illness and six month prognosis. It isn’t only for cancer but can be elected for those with non-cancer illnesses such as heart disease, lung disease, neurological disorders (Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, ALS), and other conditions that are life limiting. When the focus of care is shifting to comfort, that is a good time to call hospice to discuss care.

Yesterday was such a special day for us! We had the privilege of celebrating Veterans across our community with a "CARE-A-VAN". This parade stopped at ten retirement communities and honored 102 Veterans with a Certificate and a flag.

Special thanks to all who helped make this day such a memorable event; Representatives from U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, Vietnam Veterans of America # 278, Ashley's Care and House Call, LLC, Cornerstone Caregiving, Texarkana Texas Police Department, Ben’s Heart Ministry, , Texarkana Arkansas VFW Post 4562, Texarkana Young Marines, , Texarkana Texas Fire Department, and Texarkana Antique Car owners.
