I have been doing several trainings and having many discussions with parents who have children that are apart of the Autistic community. Helping them to adjust to what their child needs, wants and accepting how they view the world. It’s been a challenging yet humbling experience.

Especially working with black parents who have limited resources, knowledge and support when working with their children who have been identified as Autism. We often have children misdiagnosed or not enough resources in the underserved communities surrounding Autism.

Here are some resources below about having healthy boundaries and healthy physical touch (such as hugs) with your child.

Here at the Sunflower Center , we hope to continue to change the narrative and eliminate the “taboo” stigma around talking about su***de in the black community. We also hope to increase the awareness of su***de and provide more resources for who needs it.
