**EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT CORONA VIRUS UPDATE**
Hello everyone,
So here’s an update to the latest information on the corona virus locally.
We activated the Clallam County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to provide our local Dept. of Health and other health providers a location to develop and get good reliable information out to the public. We are staffed at the EOC with a number of folks, including volunteers, to help monitor the situation locally and get that important stuff out to you. We are currently establishing an information telephone line and a location on the Clallam County website for dynamic information as we get updates..
For the moment, we still have no known cases of the corona virus locally. While that will change, it is good information for now.
This virus is community spread meaning, we really don’t know the source. If you feel fine it doesn’t mean you cannot go out into public. Practice good hygiene by washing your hands frequently, don’t touch your face, and just be aware.
If you don’t feel good, stay home. IF you feel like you are coming down with the flu or a cold, well, you probably are. But it isn’t necessarily the corona virus. Even if it is, the best advice is to stay home and CALL your doctor. Don’t run to the ER or drop in clinic and overwhelm the medical community, unless it is truly an emergency.
Masks are becoming hard to get. The truth is, they really don’t provide any more protection than 6 feet would do and we need to allow our first responders and medical folks to have these available so they can tend to those that may be really sick.
So we need your help. Again:
Wash your hands frequently
Sanitize work and other areas more often than normal
Stay home if you are sick
Don’t overwhelm your doctor or the emergency rooms even if you feel poorly. I know it seems like mixed messages, but unless you are really sick, it’s best to just stay home and rest.
We will keep you posted on areas where we establish local resources of information through our EOC.
Stay well,
Undersheriff Ron Cameron
