Thanksgiving brings families together, and with a newborn in the mix, everyone suddenly wants a turn holding the baby.
But holidays can be a lot for new parents — overstimulation, extra hands, and zero quiet moments to feed or soothe.
Here are a few gentle ways to protect your peace (and your baby’s):
✨ Wear a baby carrier. It’s the easiest, least confrontational way to keep baby close and reduce the “Can I hold them?” requests.
✨ Create a feeding haven. Step into a quiet room or corner whenever you need to nurse, pump, or just breathe.
✨ Use phrases that set boundaries softly:
• “We’re taking a little nursing break.”
• “Baby’s getting overstimulated, we’re going to step away for a minute.”
• “We’re keeping them close today — flu and RSV season is real.”
✨ Tag-team with your partner or support person. Let them run interference, hold conversations, and redirect eager hands.
New babies don’t need the holiday hustle — they need your calm, your warmth, and your pace.
