Yesterday we lost one of those really special people who cares deeply about all living beings. But, in truth, most of us only knew her through media and shows. So we can continue to have that relationship with her. She isn’t really gone. And she lives in our hearts forever… I heard Jane say that she was ridiculed for saying chimps have personalities and emotions. She was correct and the unconscious men who ridiculed her were proven wrong. Her work to raise awareness for animal respect and conservation was ground breaking. What a brave soul. Still here in our midst we have a like minded pioneer Ocean Ramsey. She has been ridiculed for championing sharks and bringing awareness that sharks have been decimated up to 90% for some species. People think sharks are monsters as was projected by Steven Spielberg’s movie Jaws and others. Ocean is showing us sharks are not monsters, but also have personalities! The more important thing, tho, is that we directly depend on sharks for the oxygen we breathe. As apex predators they regulate the health of the oceans. If they are gone it’s likely the oceans will collapse and the 70% of oxygen that the oceans create for us to breathe will be gone. It’s a good time for us all to truly wake up to what is going on and start to live a more sustainable lifestyle. Sign petitions and support all shark conservation efforts. Stop shark finning and make it illegal to kill sharks. I love Jane Goodall and I love chimps—I used to know and play with one, but their existence isn’t as crucial to the planet as sharks. So shouldn’t we care at least the same amount about sharks as we do for our forest friends?

A Canadian friend, Jordan, is an avid camper. He takes his kids and family and truly convenes with nature. He’s from Canada but his dog is from Texas because of course we have the best dogs ever!
