The sweetest man came in last week for an estate jewelry distribution consultation and appraisal. He is the executor of his parent’s estate and they are both gone now. The items were identified, sorted and valued for the estate to be distributed to the heirs. It’s a simple process that we take great care and detail in as if it were our family.

These are two small, but beautiful gold broaches in the collection. And as always, the photos never do them justice.

We’ve been busy in the office the last few weeks! This client came in for a gold consult with the intent to sell their gold.

What we do is sort out the different karats, 14k, 18k, etc., properly weigh each grouping and walk the client through the pricing strategies that gold buyers use. Whether it is grams, ounces or pennyweight the amount is same just different formulas for each type of measurement.

This client was then referred to our most trusted buyer and yielded close to $6000 cash. The small fee we charge for this service earned this client a lot more than trying to go sell by themselves unaware of they really had.

Listen up people shopping for that holiday engagement ring!!! Here are my best tips for you:

1. Know your budget before shopping. Stand firm. Most sales associates are trained and motivated to upsell you. You can get the finest ring in your budget. Not the ‘biggest’. This never fails!

2. Never sign up for the store credit card. Never. Ever. Period.

3. Know the return policy. Most stores will not let you exchange or return an item if the style is just not what your recipient really wants. So get an idea of what style your loved one may like better than another. If all else fails, get a great center stone in a simple solitaire setting. Put the bulk of the budget in the center stone. You can always up grade to a fancier setting later.
