VECTTOR Update:

Over the past year, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to bring the next generation of VECTTOR to life. Our goal was to have a new model available in 2025, and while we’ve made real progress, we’re not quite there yet.

We were in talks with a potential partner, but it became clear that it wasn’t the right fit. Rather than compromise on something this important, we chose to step back and protect what matters most: the integrity of the therapy and the trust of the people who rely on it.

The good news is, we’re not giving up. Not even close.

We’re now exploring several really promising paths for the next-generation unit. Unfortunately, even in the best-case scenario, it won’t be ready before fall of next year (and realistically, it could take longer).

In the meantime, due to supply chain issues, we are facing the reality of extremely limited inventory. We have a very limited number of VECTTOR units remaining in stock and will cease selling them at the end of this year.

That said, we’re still here. Dr. Rhodes isn’t retiring, and the technology isn’t going anywhere. We’ll continue to offer support and consultations, and accessories like electrodes and thermistors will remain available.

This change in direction is frustrating, but the time has not been spent in vain. Over the past few years, Dr. Rhodes has been working on a system that captures how he tailors protocols for each patient - decades of experience distilled into something that can carry this work forward, long after he stops seeing patients in his clinic. We believe this algorithm is the key to the future of VECTTOR. It’s ready, we just need the right partner to help us build what comes next.

In the meantime, we’re working on something else close to our hearts: a book entitled “The Power of Electromedicine: Wisdom of the Past, Promise of the Future”. It will explore the history and science behind electromedicine, along with patient stories that bring it all to life.

If VECTTOR has been part of your journey and you want to share what it’s meant to you (or someone you love), please reach out. Your words might be the encouragement someone else needs.

Thanks for being with us through this winding road. We will continue to keep you updated as we explore our next steps.

We have been contacted by someone saying that they received a suspicious e-mail from Dr. Rhodes' old AOL e-mail address.

He does occasionally use this email to send out correspondence to patients or prospective patients, but if it looks suspicious, don't use the "reply" function or click on any links.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions.

New office, new address, new name!

Actually, the name isn't new, Alan Neuromedical was founded many years ago as our medical device company. Now that we are no longer in South Texas, and are only seeing patients on a limited basis, we will no longer be using the name "South Texas Innovative Medicine".

We are now in the final stages of transition from our Corpus office to Houston. Appointments are now being scheduled in our office in The Woodlands.

Our new contact information is:

Alan Neuromedical
2002 Timberloch Place, Suite 200
The Woodlands, TX 77380
281-259-8563

Next week we will be moving our computer system and will likely experience some short delays. We appreciate your patience and understanding and hope to be back on schedule shortly.

We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Blake and Jay for all of their hard work over the five years they have been with us. We will miss them and wish them the very best in the future!

Happy New Year!

This weekend the first group of participants in the VECTTOR clinical trial for DMD will have completed six months of treatment. From this point forward all study participants in this group will receive active treatment. All data will be submitted to the bio statistician and we hope to have results available by early spring.

Also, if all goes as planned, we will begin our transition to the Houston area next month. The current plan is to continue seeing patients in Corpus Christi until the last week in February. After this time, patients from outside of Corpus will be scheduled to be seen in the Houston area.

Our office lease in Corpus Christi runs throughout the month of April. During this time, Dr. Rhodes will continue to see patients when he is Corpus Christi. These appointments will be extremely limited, so any Corpus patients who need to be seen should schedule an appointment as soon as possible.

Just a reminder... Tomorrow is the last day to order at the 2013 price point. It is not necessary to have a prescription to order the system but we MUST have a prescription on file before the system can be shipped to you.

The office will be open until 12 p.m. CST tomorrow.

Seasons Greetings ~

It's hard to believe it's already been one year since VECTTOR Therapy was granted clearance by the FDA! It's been a busy, but exciting, year for us. The first clinical trial of VECTTOR Therapy, for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, is well underway, and we expect to be releasing initial results sometime in early 2014.

Plans are still in progress to relocate the clinic to the greater Houston area. This move will allow us to be in close proximity for future studies and will also allow for easier travel for our out-of-town patients. We hope to be updating the status of this move very soon.

We have one very important change to announce. Beginning last January (2013), the Affordable Health Care Act implemented a tax of 2.3% on all medical devices. We were hopeful that this tax would be eliminated, therefore we have kept the price of the VECTTOR system the same. Unfortunately, Congress did not vote to discontinue this tax. This, combined with a drastic increase in regulatory costs associated with maintaining compliance with the FDA, has left us no choice but to increase the cost of the VECTTOR Therapy System. Effective January 1, 2014 the cost of the system will increase to $4950. Electrodes and components will remain at their current prices.

This is the first time we've had to implement a price increase on the VECTTOR System. Please be assured that this is not something we take lightly. We are pouring our resources into taking the steps necessary to apply to the FDA to expand the labeling for VECTTOR. The process is long, expensive, and complicated. However, these steps are crucial to eventually securing insurance coverage for VECTTOR Therapy.

We thank you all for your continued patience and understanding as we move through this process. As always, we are grateful to Defying Muscular Dystrophy and The Hope for Gabe Foundation for their ongoing support with the VECTTOR clinical trial.

Please check back for updates on our move and announcements regarding the results from the clinical trial.

Be safe, stay warm, and have a wonderful holiday season!

We are pleased to announce that the first clinical trial of VECTTOR Therapy is underway!

The first participants have completed all preliminary testing and have started treatments.

The second group of participants will begin in September. We anticipate preliminary data sometime early 2014.

A special thank you to Defying Muscular Dystrophy and the Hope for Gabe Foundation for making this trial possible.
