📢 Holiday Closure Notice – 72d Medical Group 🎄

In observance of the recent Executive Order, the 72d Medical Group will be closed to patient services on December 24 and December 26.

🟢 Pharmacy Update:
The pharmacy drive-thru will remain open on December 24 from 0700–1100 for prescription pick-up only.

To ensure a smooth check-in process, please remember:
🔹 All patients age 10 and older must present a valid military ID at the time of their appointment.

This is part of our standard protocol and helps us provide safe, accurate care for all beneficiaries.

✅ If the patient does not have their ID on hand, a Pass ID form is available at Patient Administration as an alternative check-in option.

📢 TriWest Patients: Read This!

Some patients have received unexpected medical bills for services that should’ve been covered during the transition to TriWest. If this happened to you, don’t stress — here’s what to do:

1️⃣ Visit: tricare-bene.triwest.com
👉 View or appeal claims, and file for reimbursement if you already paid.
2️⃣ Still need help?
📍Stop by Patient Administration (1st floor of the MDG) with your bill.
💡 Even if you paid it — bring it in. We’ll document it and submit a support ticket on your behalf.

We don’t process claims, but we’re here to help track and push for resolution. Your feedback helps us make this better for everyone!

📢 Heads Up, Team Tinker!

If you use AT&T, Cricket, Pure Talk, Straight Talk, or H20 Wireless, you will no longer receive text alerts from the pharmacy. This means:

❌ No notifications when prescriptions are ready
❌ No alerts if there’s an issue
❌ Pharmacy staff won’t know if messages fail
✅ Check your prescription status by calling or visiting the pharmacy directly.

📣 Know the Risks. Prevent the Bites. Report the Ticks.

Emergency Rooms across the country are seeing an increase tick bites, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This July has already seen the highest number of tick-related ER visits since 2017. Tinker AFB Public Health has also seen an increase with a two-fold increase in reported tick bites these past two years.

To prevent tick bites:

• Try to wear light-colored long sleeves, pants, and closed-toe shoes when outside.
• Apply insect repellent containing DEET. You can also apply permethrin to your clothes.
• Do a thorough tick check after being outdoors (focusing on waistbands, armpits, groin, scalp, and hair).

If you are a DOD beneficiary and find a tick during a tick check, Public Health can send it off for testing:

• Grasp tick as close to the skin as possible using fine-tipped tweezers and pull tick away with gentle, steady upward pressure.
• Store the tick in a Ziplock bag or sealed container. If you are not able to bring the tick immediately, store it in the freezer.
• PH will ship off the tick for identification and disease testing. Patients will receive information about the results. Positive results (without patient information) are also forwarded to CE Pest Management to help them optimize pest control efforts.
