Confession: I used to fear carbs… and I taught other women to fear them too.
Somewhere along the way, women over 45 were told our bodies “just can’t handle carbs anymore.” That’s not physiology — that’s fear-based fitness culture.
Yes, insulin sensitivity can change with age.
But muscle loss and inactivity are the bigger drivers — not your birth year.
Carbs fuel your workouts.
Carbs support your thyroid.
Carbs help you preserve lean muscle.
And muscle is what actually improves how your body processes carbs.
We don’t need fewer carbs.
We need more strength, more protein, and smarter training.
