🌱 It’s tick season. Once temps hit 40°, ticks wake up
Here’s how to protect your kids:
✔ Do a daily tick check after outdoor play (especially hairline, behind ears, beltline, armpits).
✔ Toss clothes in the dryer for 10 minutes after coming inside — heat kills ticks better than the washer.
✔ Use kid-safe repellents (picaridin 20% or DEET 20–30% are effective).
✔ For yard play: keep grass short + avoid leaf piles.
If you find a tick:
• Remove with fine-tipped tweezers
• Clean the area
• Take a photo if possible
• Call us if a deer tick was attached or you’re unsure
Lyme disease is treatable — and early action is the best protection. 💚

Regular physical activity supports health, mood, attention, and academic performance in children. ➡️Even 20 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise can improve attention and focus after activity. ➡️Aim for about 60 minutes of active play most days — walks, bikes, playground time, or tag work well.

Nearly 90,000 bottles of children’s ibuprofen have been recalled after reports they contained a “foreign substance.”

According to an FDA enforcement report, Strides Pharma Inc. recalled the medicine because the company received complaints of a “gel-like mass and black particles” in the product.

The recall affects 100-milligram Children’s Ibuprofen Oral Suspension, sold nationwide in a 4-fluid-ounce bottle. The lot numbers for the affected bottles are 7261973A and 7261974A, and the medication expires on Jan. 31, 2027, according to the FDA report.

Consumers who have the recalled ibuprofen should stop using it immediately.

⚠️CAR SEAT SAFETY: We get asked about car seats—and especially when to transition to and out of a booster seat—all the time. It can be confusing, and recommendations have changed over the years.
➡️ Keep children rear-facing as long as possible within the limits of their car seat.
➡️ Transition to a forward-facing seat with a harness until they outgrow it.
➡️ Use a booster seat until a seat belt fits properly (usually around 4’9”), with the lap belt low across the hips and the shoulder belt across the chest—not the neck.
⭐️Here’s some great, easy-to-follow guidance from ctsafekids.org to help you make the safest choice for your child.⭐️

🥧 Happy Pi Day! 🥧

Today is March 14 (3.14) — also known as Pi Day! It’s a fun way to celebrate math, learning, and of course… pie. Here are a few ways to enjoy it with your kids:

- 🥧 Share a pie and talk about circles — from the crust to the plate.
- 🔢 See how many digits of pi your child can memorize.
- 📚 Read a fun, math-themed book together.

Learning is fun! Whether your child loves numbers or just loves dessert, Pi Day is a sweet excuse to celebrate both.

Sleep is a big discussion topic at every well visit here at LCPeds because it’s so important! More than half of kids aren’t getting enough sleep—and it affects mood, learning, growth, and immunity. Sleep really is your friend. 💙
Sleep hygiene tips:
* 30 minutes of activity most days
* No caffeine after noon
* Dinner ≥2 hours before bed
* Device‑free wind‑down hour
* Consistent sleep/wake times (even weekends)
* Cool, dark, quiet bedroom
Prioritize sleep—it’s one of the best things you can do for your child’s health. 💤
