The Family Homestead Conference Friday Feature: Herbalist and Owner of Hardy's House of Herbs; Joanna Hardy. She grew up on the outskirts of Assumption IL, Just about 30 miles South of Decatur IL. on a 3 acre homestead with her parents and 6 siblings. They learned to raise livestock & backyard chickens, grow a garden, gather herbs and food preservation skills like pressure canning, seed saving, and how to preserve the harvest. They had Bee hives and a very large garden with an orchard. She learned to sew her own clothes and cook for a family of 9 from a very young age.
