At DexaFit we do VO2 max testing on the treadmill. We have different protocols for the test so don’t worry about being in “running shape”. A VO2 can give you a lot of valuable data, some of that data being workout zones based off of your numbers. Having accurate work out zones can help you properly program your cardio depending on your goals!

So what exactly is a Dexa Scan?

Dexa is short for Dual-Energy X-Ray absorptiometry. A Dexa machine uses a low dose of X-Rays for the scan, even less than a dental X-Ray!

How does it work? A dexa scan is an easy/painless test. You simply lie down on the dexa bed as the arm above you scans your body. The x-rays that are passing through your body are absorbed differently by the fat tissue, lean tissue, and bone in your body which is how the dexa is able to give you an accurate measurement of what is inside your body.

At the end of the scan you will know your
- body fat %
- fat tissue
- lean tissue
- visceral fat
- bone density
And more!

We will go over all these numbers with you so you can truly understand what your body is made of.
