A message from Jahn, our Wednesday night yoga teacher at the Tubac Healing Arts Center
Greetings Yogis, When I first began my Yoga Journey I was seeing either a Chiropractor, Acupuncturist or Massage Therapist once per week. While I enjoyed these sessions, it was costly and the pain relief to my lower back didn't last. Sometimes the pain would return as soon as I drove home. I experienced different exquisite forms of back pain either between my shoulder blades or the Lower Back. My SI Joint would frequently go out (and still will). For some reason I decided that I wanted to try Yoga; I had no idea that the Practice could address those issues. I was quite surprised that as time went on my back pain was less. Eventually I learned how to adjust my own spine by using Yoga Asanas which was another surprise.
My Focus in the Slow Flow Class on Wednesday nights at 5:30 will be to address those issues of pain in the body, particularly the spine. I find that a lot of Yoga Classes move too quickly between poses for me to achieve proper alignment and then I can injure my low back. Then I spend a lot of time trying to recover from the injury and can't Practice Yoga and that's not fun. I find that by setting up for each pose is very helpful and engaging the Bhandas. Please join me for Slow Flow Yoga on Wednesdays at 5:30 PM.
