FAMISHED is an interactive theatrical documentary about the complex relationships we develop with and around food, and the social and political discourse that develops in our efforts to satisfy our essential hungers. These events included a series of interactive performance installations as part of Portland Center Stage's JAW event, a reading of scenes in development at CoHo Theatre's RAW event, a guerilla theatre event at a local food cart pod in southeast Portland, and a citywide potluck event, at which community members shared food reminiscent of their place of origin with one-another. The first full production of FAMISHED, directed by Megan Kate Ward was part of Portland Playhouse's 2012 season and the Fertile Ground Festival. Eugenia Woods and T Loving are now launching a Tucson-based production focusing on Tucson's unique food heritage, food resilience and sovereignty issues, and general love of the diversity that brought Tucson the UNESCO World City of Gastronomy designation. FAMISHED: Tucson is an interdisciplinary performance project about the region's food culture and ways people relate to and around food. The Project focuses on traditional foodways, food sovereignty and resilience. It aims to illuminate the dynamics of producing, accessing, and sharing food and how these processes inform our social and political discourse. Community will be asked to engage in potlucks, intentional cooking/eating communities, story circles, and interactive installations to stimulate dialogue on Food as: Medicine, Community, Ritual, and Memory. Interviews will be conducted at food truck round-ups, agricultural events, and with non/unstably housed people.
