HOMEOPATHY IN REAL LIFE-ARNICA AS FIRST AID
I was just going about my day today, going out to post remedies to patients, when I saw a fox lying on the ground, just outside my house, breathing but motionless, a passing workman was stroking her and had put his visibility jacket on her, to protect her from the cold of the morning.
The man did not know what was wrong with the fox, it looked like she could not move, perhaps she had been hit by a passing car (we live in a busy area) and he was trying to call the RSPCA for help. I suggested calling the vet surgery in my area, which is just five minutes walk from my house but they refused to take the fox, because it's "wild life". Shame on them, because they actually have a duty of care and they could have taken the fox in while waiting for specialist help, but never mind.
After a couple of hours, we finally got through the SSPCA (the Scottish branch) who eventually came round with a van and took the fox away to give her medical attention.
While waiting for help, I decided to get some arnica from the house, put some 200c pellets in a clean dropper bottle, succussed it a few times and gave the fox a few drops on the snout. Her eyes were shut and at first she did not even lick her lips or move as I gave her the drops. Within seconds, however, she opened her eyes, moved her head to look around her, so I encouraged. I waited another ten minutes and gave her another dose. She lifted her head again, looked around and started to stir her body, like shaking herself off.
At that point the SSPCA van arrived. I offered the woman my bottle of Arnica and told her about what I did and she was really happy about that and wondered why she hadn't thought about it herself!
I don't know what kind of injury that fox had sustained, all we could see was that she was in pain and could not move, she was barely conscious. Yet Arnica started to work immediately and the reaction was really noticeable.
A few lessons to unpack from this:
1-there are lots of kind and caring people around (not the local vet, however)
2-homeopathy really is amazing and the placebo argument is stupid
3-Arnica is one of the remedies to keep handy at all times, you never know when you need it!
PS: this is not a picture of the real fox: I had no phone with me when I left the house and I did not think of taking a picture of the whole event as it was unfolding; this is an AI picture I put together.
