🦃 Happy Thanksgiving from our practice!
This season reminds us of the resilience we see in the people we support—small steps, big breakthroughs, and everything in between.
May your day be grounded in gratitude, comfort, and hope for the days ahead.

Sometimes therapy feels like paying someone to help you solve problems that you created, using information you provided, based on patterns you keep repeating.

And honestly? Worth every penny.

My therapist: “How’s the self-care going?”
Me: “Well, I didn’t cry in the grocery store this week, so I’d say I’m thriving.”

If you need me, I’ll be overanalyzing a conversation from 2014 and then telling my therapist about it like it just happened yesterday.

Shoutout to therapy: the only place where saying “I think the problem might be… me” is considered progress. 🙃💖

Self-aware humor:
“My therapist said to sit with my feelings. It’s been three hours. Feelings still weird. Couch uncomfortable.”

🌿 Why do people come to therapy? Let’s count the ways…

1️⃣ Because “I’m fine” stopped fooling anyone (including your dog).
2️⃣ Because your brain won’t stop playing the “What if?” game at 3 a.m.
3️⃣ Because your boss said “We’re like a family” and that felt like a threat.
4️⃣ Because your partner keeps saying “We need to communicate more”… and you’d rather learn how to do that before your next argument about the dishes.
5️⃣ Because life didn’t come with an instruction manual, but therapy’s a pretty good substitute.
6️⃣ Because you’ve rewritten the same text message 14 times and still haven’t hit send.
7️⃣ Because “self-care” apparently means more than scrolling and buying candles.
8️⃣ Because your inner critic has way too much screen time.
9️⃣ Because you’re tired of trauma bonding with strangers in comment sections.
🔟 Because the plot twists in your family could fuel an entire Netflix series.
11️⃣ Because you’re starting to suspect that “just pushing through” isn’t the only coping strategy.
12️⃣ Because adulting is hard, and “winging it” isn’t as fun as it used to be.

💬 Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just curious about how to feel a little more you, therapy’s a place to unpack, laugh, cry, and maybe even figure out why you keep ghosting your to-do list.

✨ Reminder: You don’t have to wait for a crisis to start healing. Sometimes “just wanting to feel better” is the best reason of all.

✨ Taking Care of Your Mental Health This Holiday Season ✨
The holidays can be a time of joy — but they can also bring unique challenges. Increased stress, family conflict, loneliness, and financial pressure can make existing struggles feel even heavier. Whether you’re dealing with substance use concerns, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, or family tension, you don’t have to face it alone.
At TrueNorth Counseling, we offer compassionate individual therapy, couples counseling, and family sessions to help you navigate life’s challenges, find balance, and build healthier connections. Healing and growth are possible — and reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
💬 We’d love to hear from you:
If you’ve experienced how therapy or counseling has helped you in the past, please share a few words (as much or as little as you’re comfortable). Your story might encourage someone else to take that important first step toward healing.
You deserve support, especially during this busy and emotional time of year. 🌿

🌿 Remember — Asking for Help Is a Sign of Strength 🌿

Many people hesitate to start therapy because they think they “should” be able to handle things on their own. The truth is, reaching out for support takes courage.

Therapy isn’t about being “broken” or “weak” — it’s about wanting to understand yourself better, improve your relationships, and find healthier ways to cope with life’s challenges.

Just like you’d see a doctor for your physical health, taking care of your emotional and mental wellbeing is just as essential.

If you’ve been considering therapy, take that as a sign that you’re ready for growth. Reaching out is the first step toward healing. 💙

Just received my certification in Somatic Therapy. It's an amazing way to treat complex trauma and address the way trauma effects the body as well as the mind. Traumatic experiences can be "trapped" inside the body, making recovery utilizing traditional Cognitive Behavioral and other talk therapies less successful.
