Two organizations that have brought smiles to not only Sebastians face but to my daughter and she tries to understand what's going on with her brother at the age of 7 is Joy Jars and Courtney's Courage.
The first few days that we were on the oncology unit the volunteer for NEGU which creates the Joy Jars asked me my son's age and my daughters age. I was a little taken back but I responded puzzled but minutes later they had brought in the Joy Jars and smiles, fun and laughed ensued as my children opened the Jars to see what was inside. In this sad and extreme stressful time we were able to forget and take a break from the severity that our reality had taken us to.
The second was the charity called Courtney's Courage. Where it's a charity to bring joy to kids going through cancer and their siblings. Again we were blown away and again in a time of just feeling completely lost were able to find joy in the moment. The smiles on my children's faces are priceless and will be cherished.
The many charities that rise out of situations of complete despair and carry on to help children find smiles and joy as they embark on their fights against cancer can not be thanked enough. These charities go above and beyond to help children and their families.
The absolute joy that I was able to find even for the smallest moment in my changed reality will be forever in my heart. This journey is new to us and will be a long one but knowing that I have organizations and people I can turn to for support have made a world of difference.
