We need your vote!

Annika Conn, a patient with cystic fibrosis, has been nominated to win the AbbVie CF Scholarship for $25,000 but she needs people to vote for her.

Here is some information:
Annika is a thriving teen diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. She excels academically and devotes her time to numerous extracurricular activities. Annika has adapted a strength-based mentality. She states that, “Cystic Fibrosis makes me the person I am today, but it does not define who I am. When I was younger, I was discouraged by my disease and thought it would limit and hold me back from reaching my full potential. However, my mentality changed once I reached high school and no longer saw CF as a restriction from living a normal life, but instead motivated me to live life to the fullest; I wanted to thrive.”

The AbbVie CF Scholarship honors students who are thriving with cystic fibrosis, and each year, the public helps choose the winners. Please help us honor Annika and all her hard work. Please cast your vote for Annika by October 9, 2019.

This week, PediaCATS volunteered at Emily Gray Junior High School to present a fun and engaging compounding activity - hand sanitizer! We worked with over 200 students and taught them about compounding, the importance of labeling, and measurement techniques. Students also learned how to critically think about the ingredients used for hand sanitizer - in the end, they were able to apply what they learned to explain how germ prevention can help patients with cystic fibrosis.

The event was so much fun, and it was rewarding to see the students' excitement for learning about health and science. Thank you for everyone's support!

This past weekend, PediaCATS had the opportunity to attend the PPAG conference in Oklahoma City, OK. We presented a poster highlighting our community outreach and interprofessional events as well as the great impact that PediaCATS has on the lives on children in the community. It was such a great experience as we learned about residency and networked with other pediatric pharmacists.

Our faculty advisor, Dr. Hanna Phan, was also inducted as the current PPAG President on Friday, April 12. We would like to congratulate her once again on her induction!
