✨At Southside Behavioral Health, we believe meaningful change starts with self-awareness, and that’s exactly what Jillian Turecki captures in her new book It Begins With You: The 9 Hard Truths About Love That Will Change Your Life. 💫

This book is a compassionate yet powerful reminder that the relationships we build with our partners, friends, and family, all begin with the one we have with ourselves.

💪 Therapist Self-Care Spotlight: Nicole Dunham, LPC 💞

At Southside Behavioral Health, we believe the best therapists model the same wellness practices we encourage in our clients , and Nicole Dunham, LPC, does just that!

Nicole practices self-care by showing up for bootcamp five days a week 🏋️‍♀️ because for her, exercise is about so much more than fitness.

✨ “Exercise not only changes your body …. it changes your mind, your attitude, and your mood. Nutrition is for my body, but my workouts are for my mental health.”

Nicole reminds us that movement is medicine for the mind. Whether it’s a walk outside, yoga, or a high-energy class, regular exercise can boost mood, reduce anxiety, and build emotional resilience. Key ingredients for both therapists and clients alike. 🤩

🌿 Therapist Self Care Spotlight: Habitual Health with Holli Thomason, LCSW

At Southside Behavioral Health, we believe that caring for others begins with caring for ourselves.🩷Habitual self care and health are the small, consistent practices that help us stay grounded, grateful, and balanced.

✨ Holli Thomason, LCSW, shares:

“Nature walks and unplugging from my phone help me reset. Being outside shifts me from overwhelm to gratitude almost instantly. I also try to attend a group fitness class daily, preferably yoga because it’s the most efficient way to get out of my mind and into my body while maintaining balance and spine health.

Being led by someone else during class also increases estrogen for women, which keeps me aligned both mentally and physically.” 🌸

At Southside Behavioral Health, we’re passionate about helping our clients and our clinicians live from a place of wholeness, not burnout.

🌿 Your reminder: Self care isn’t selfish it’s necessary and sustainable! Step outside, move your body, unplug, and allow yourself to reset. 🩷

✨ If you’re the person raising your hand for longer daylight hours, you’re in good company! 💁🏼‍♀️

Research shows that less daylight 😢 can disrupt circadian rhythms and lower serotonin, leading to fatigue, sadness, increased sleep, and cravings.

The good news? Therapy can help! 🙌🏻At Southside Behavioral Health, our therapists use evidence-based approaches like CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and lifestyle support to help clients manage seasonal depression to feel more like themselves, even when the days get darker. 💡✨

If you notice your mood shifting with the seasons, you don’t have to face it alone. Call us today we’re here to help you find the light again. 🌅
