Resiliency through Practicing Impermanence:
This is a practice for those of you who desire mindset resiliency or for those dealing with chronic pain who have not found a way out of that Pain.
A big part of pain and suffering is attachment, attachment to the body and movements you had before, attachment to the circumstances that led to your pain, attachment to your best performance and ability, or attachment to the beliefs you've picked up about yourself and your worth.
Practicing IMPERMANENCE, helps you to accept the now, the what is, and let go of the past and the future. All you need to do is grow your awareness. Let me show you how I've been practicing this all week:
1. Start noticing things that start and end.
2. Notice how you feel about those changes.
3. Notice the beauty and gratitude for what it is now.
For example:
I take a lot of walks around my neighborhood in the morning and in the late evening.
1. At night I look at the state of the moon: how is it more or less full of light, where it sits in the sky, noticing the change in my perspective depending on how I'm looking at the moon. Thinking about how it was before and how it is now. Thinking of how or if I could see it during the day versus at night.
2. Noticing how I felt with each moon and how I feel right now as it has changed.
3. Noticing the trees and greenery during the morning versus the night. How does the sunlight bathe the world versus the moonlight.
4. How do I feel about these changes. How can I enjoy them as they are now.
5. Taking in the details of the now. Knowing the trees and shrubs are deep green right now. I know they will change soon. How can I enjoy them now so that I see and reflect on the changes as time moves forward and the death of this green state occurs?
Try this for yourself and let me know how it goes!
How did you choose to practice impermanence today?
How does it make you feel having practiced it? How does it change your pain or your performance?
