Movement is a great outlet for built up anxiety, while we’re at home and not doing a lot of physical work (and getting bombarded by stressful news) it’s easy for that stress and anxiety to accumulate in our bodies.
It’s super important to stay moving right now as everything else feels like it’s at a standstill - if you have any questions at all about working out at home or substitutions for what you were doing in the gym please don’t hesitate to reach out!
I would be MORE than happy to help you figure out something that works for you while you’re self isolating. All I ask in return is that you stay home and stay safe 💕✨

“Self-care is often a very unbeautiful thing.

It is making a spreadsheet of your debt and enforcing a morning routine and cooking yourself healthy meals and no longer just running from your problems and calling the distraction a solution.

It is often doing the ugliest thing that you have to do, like sweat through another workout or tell a toxic friend you don’t want to see them anymore or get a second job so you can have a savings account or figure out a way to accept yourself so that you’re not constantly exhausted from trying to be everything, all the time and then needing to take deliberate, mandated breaks from living to do basic things like drop some oil into a bath and read Marie Claire and turn your phone off for the day.

A world in which self-care has to be such a trendy topic is a world that is sick. Self-care should not be something we resort to because we are so absolutely exhausted that we need some reprieve from our own relentless internal pressure.

True self-care is not salt baths and chocolate cake, it is making the choice to build a life you don’t need to regularly escape from.

And that often takes doing the thing you least want to do.

It often means looking your failures and disappointments square in the eye and re-strategizing. It is not satiating your immediate desires. It is letting go. It is choosing new. It is disappointing some people. It is making sacrifices for others. It is living a way that other people won’t, so maybe you can live in a way that other people can’t.

It is letting yourself be normal. Regular. Unexceptional. It is sometimes having a dirty kitchen and deciding your ultimate goal in life isn’t going to be having abs and keeping up with your fake friends. It is deciding how much of your anxiety comes from not actualizing your latent potential, and how much comes from the way you were being trained to think before you even knew what was happening.

If you find yourself having to regularly indulge in consumer self-care, it’s because you are disconnected from actual self-care, which has very little to do with “treating yourself” and a whole lot do with parenting yourself and making choices for your long-term wellness.

It is no longer using your hectic and unreasonable life as justification for self-sabotage in the form of liquor and procrastination. It is learning how to stop trying to “fix yourself” and start trying to take care of yourself… and maybe finding that taking care lovingly attends to a lot of the problems you were trying to fix in the first place.

It means being the hero of your life, not the victim. It means rewiring what you have until your everyday life isn’t something you need therapy to recover from. It is no longer choosing a life that looks good over a life that feels good. It is giving the hell up on some goals so you can care about others. It is being honest even if that means you aren’t universally liked. It is meeting your own needs so you aren’t anxious and dependent on other people.

It is becoming the person you know you want and are meant to be. Someone who knows that salt baths and chocolate cake are ways to enjoy life – not escape from it.”

Every time I see "guilt" or "sin" associated with
food I roll my eyes so hard I'm worried they're
going to get stuck.
"5 Super Bowl Snacks you Don't Have to Feel
Guilty About!" Dear God Brenda just eat the
nachos. They're special, they make you happy,
and some nachos for the Super Bowl are not
going to make or break anything.
By all means, make the lettuce wraps too, but
do so because they're healthy and yummy,
maybe they align with your goals better. But
guilt and shame and sin shouldn't never be
associated with food. It is not healthy. It should
not be normalized.

Food does not have morality. Food does not
change your worth as a person.

Long emotional post coming up; buckle in or scroll on by, no hard feelings either way 💕
Social media is hard. It can be toxic. It can fuel mean thoughts, obsessions, unhealthy eating habits, lack of sleep, toxic comparison, relationship obstacles, etc etc etc. I’m speaking from experience here. I know all about the late nights you spend scrolling through hundreds of pictures of beautiful people in beautiful places with beautiful lives, I know logically you know that social media is a “highlight reel” and I know that doesn’t stop your emotional human brain from feeling how you feel. As a personal trainer I’ve been wildly conflicted about how to utilize social media to market myself without adding to the toxic culture. How to maintain my passion for movement without feeling like I have to create content every single time I do something for myself. I’ve overthought it to the point of “analysis paralysis” where I end up avoiding it altogether and lemme tell ya, I miss moving for the sake of moving. I miss running for the sake of just feeling my body run. Tonight I put on some music and let myself move, no self judgment, no worrying about technique, no thinking allowed at all. You guys, it was so therapeutic. It reminded me why I do this, why I want to help other people find movement. I am so passionate about getting OUT of your head and into your BODY, feeling present and strong and creative and vulnerable. That’s what this whole thing is about for me. Movement is emotion, movement is strength, movement is honesty.
From now on I want my focus in both my life and my social media to be on sharing authenticity and genuine human experience. Of course there were more “aesthetic” or “technique focused” pictures I could’ve shared but these ones make me smile because I’m just living in my body and enjoying it! We don’t have to delete all social media when we feel icky, let’s just change the content. If you feel uncomfortable dancing, if you hate going to the gym because people might look at you, I am your girl!! Let me be a safe space for you to see what your body can do!!

Overnight oats are my favorite on the go breakfast - incredibly easy, filling, and yummy 😋
Just put 1/2 c of oats in a cup or jar and cover with milk of your choice. I added chia seeds and used unsweetened almond milk. Leave in the fridge overnight and top with fresh fruit & nuts in the morning! I topped mine with honey, almonds, and fresh blackberries. ✨
I have an early exam this morning so I knew I’d need something quick and easy that would keep me full. These oats literally just take a minute or two to top and you’re out 🙌🏻
What’re your favorite toppings??
