Important conversations don’t have to feel heavy — they can bring you closer. 💞
🗣️ Listen to understand, not to respond
❤️ Speak from how you feel, not what they did
⏸️ Take pauses when emotions rise
🤝 Remember: it’s you and your partner vs. the problem, not you vs. them

If you're needing help having these conversations, call or email today to get started with one of our therapists.

In healthy relationships, gratitude isn’t silent. Highlighting your partner’s strengths builds trust, safety, and connection. Love deepens when we see—and say—what’s good. 💬💚

Change will always be uncomfortable, but staying the same can be dangerous too. Look in the mirror. Ask the hard questions. Heal what needs healing. 🌱

Healthy relationships don’t thrive on grand gestures — they grow through consistent, honest communication. 💬

Many couples only talk about logistics (work, bills, schedules) and forget the emotional check-ins that build true connection.

Ask your partner how they’re really feeling. Listen without fixing. Speak without blaming.
Small, regular conversations prevent big misunderstandings later. 🌱

If you're struggling to connect in your relationship, call or email today to get started with one of our therapists.

Often, the traits we judge in others are reflections of the parts we’ve disowned in ourselves. 🪞 Our ‘shadow’ holds the qualities we’ve learned to reject—confidence, vulnerability, ambition, even joy.

When we make peace with these hidden parts, envy and criticism soften into understanding. 🌿 If you're finding it challenging to integrate your shadow self, call or email today to get started with one of our therapists.

One of the simplest ways to express love is genuine curiosity. 💛 When we show interest in another person’s thoughts, feelings, and experiences, we communicate: ‘You matter to me.' Attention is love in action.

Find this difficult to do? Call or email today to get started with one of our therapists to learn how.

This Halloween, let’s celebrate Valloween — a day for monsters, witches, and every hidden part of ourselves. 🖤✨The ‘monsters’ we fear within are often our unmet needs and unhealed wounds, just longing to be seen. The ‘witches’ we’ve been taught to fear are often our inner wisdom, intuition, and power.

Valloween invites us to love what we’ve exiled — to let every part of us come home...because being real is the bravest costume of all. 🎃💞 Let’s celebrate the beauty of showing up without the mask.🌙

Call or email today to get started with one of our therapists and learn to embrace your inner monster and witchy parts!

Relationships thrive when we replace criticism with clarity. 💬 Instead of pointing out what’s wrong, try expressing what you need or hope for. Asking directly invites connection; criticizing invites defense. 🌿

Call or email today to get started with one of our therapists if you're struggling to ask for what you need!

Our Story

Hello and welcome! I’m Ashley Kalina the owner and founder of Kalina Counseling Services, LLC. I provide online individual, couples, and family counseling services. I offer unique, online counseling sessions using the HIPPA compliant telemedicine platform, iCouch. It truly simulates a virtual private office session. All you need is a computer with web cam and a private space at home or elsewhere so you can talk freely. I work with individuals experiencing a range of mental health symptoms, stressful life circumstances, or those simply looking to improve themselves. I work with couples to improve overall relationship satisfaction and communication. I work with families to re-structure family dynamics and improve family functioning.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Family Social Science at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and my Master of Arts in Counselor Education with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of South Florida. I also hold a graduate certificate in Marriage & Family Therapy from the University of South Florida. I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (MT 3409) and Licensed Mental Health Counselor (MH 15590) with the state of Florida.

I was born and raised in Minnesota and very much incorporate that “Minnesota Nice” attitude into my work with clients. I want you to always feel welcome and supported by our therapeutic relationship. Helping others is my passion in life and I look forward to helping you create positive changes in your life!
