I think the hardest type of clutter to let go of is what I call aspirational clutter. The things we buy to become better versions of ourselves or that are tied to our values, like being a "good mom" or "successful person" or healthier, more organized, and smarter! So, this type of clutter is a shining example of how we aren't all of these things that we aspire to be.
Except that it's not! We can change our beliefs about what good moms do, we don't have to create perfect scrapbooks and make handmade Christmas gifts, we can be successful without reading every book or finishing every project. We can let those versions of ourselves go and be more fully who we really are.
I wrote a blog post about aspirational clutter a couple of years ago, you can read it here https://www.massageandspasuccess.com/blog/aspirational-clutter.
