“Does my child need an evaluation?” 🤔

A quick screening is like a snapshot—it shows if there might be a concern.

An evaluation is a full picture—it explains what’s going on and what support is needed. 💙

This guide breaks down what to do by age if an evaluation is recommended:
🔹 Under 3 years old – Early Intervention (E.I) through your county
🔹 3–5 years old – CPSE evaluation through your school district
🔹 5+ years old – CSE evaluation through your school district
🔹 All ages – Private evaluation with Somos Bilingües for a second opinion, faster scheduling, or a more holistic look

Una evaluación es una imagen completa: explica qué está pasando y qué apoyos se necesitan. 💙

Esta guía explica qué hacer según la edad si se recomienda una evaluación:
🔹 Menores de 3 años – Intervención Temprana (E.I.) a través de su condado
🔹 3–5 años – Evaluación de CPSE a través de su distrito escolar
🔹 5 años o más – Evaluación de CSE a través de su distrito escolar
🔹 Todas las edades – Evaluación privada con Somos Bilingües para una segunda opinión, programación más rápida o una mirada más holística

Not sure your child’s school evaluation tells the whole story? 💭

You can ask for a second opinion—at no cost to you. ✍️

What to ask for: an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) under IDEA.

Quick steps
• Put it in writing (email is fine).
• Use this line: “I disagree with my child’s evaluation and request an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) at public expense.”
• You’re allowed one IEE per district evaluation.
• You don’t have to explain why you disagree.
• Save a copy of your request.

When to consider an IEE
• Something was missed 🧩
• Scores don’t match what you see at home/school
• Services or placement don’t fit your child’s needs
• You want more data to advocate confidently

👉 Comment “IEE” or DM us “IEE” and we’ll send a free request-letter template + simple checklist (English/Español).
