Choices for Change would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who donated to provide Thanksgiving meals for Choices For Change clients. Tonight, I shopped for and delivered food to six families, allowing 36 family members to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner, thanks to your generosity.

Notably, Meijer is offering turkeys at a price of 36 cents per pound, resulting in a cost of approximately $6.00 per turkey. We have $180.00 remaining in donations, of which $50.00 will be used to aid a client in obtaining an expungement, thereby making their family eligible for subsidized housing. The remaining $130.00 will be allocated for Christmas gifts for our clients.

Additionally, we appreciate the support of a local church, which has adopted three of our families for Christmas presents. Thank you to all the donors for your kindness; your support is truly appreciated.

Choices for Change Counseling Agency and WMed Street Medicine have entered into a new, collaborative mission that combines street medicine and case management, as well as addictions treatment, psychiatric interventions, crisis response, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and reality therapy. The clinic and medical organization will be jointly working with clients in their homes, motels, tents, or wherever the patients/clients are located.

The teams will encompass doctors, social workers, counselors, student doctors, interns, masters'-level counselors and social workers engaging in ACTIVE (not only reasonable) EFFORTS at the micro-level to connect with clients/patients to build trusting relationships.

This approach takes into account transportation barriers faced by so many in the community. We fill the transportation gaps and accompany clients/patients if so desire. We started outreach care this week. We are so excited about our new joint venture.
