Most clients come in thinking pelvic floor therapy is all kegels and stretches.
But lasting relief comes when we address what’s happening underneath the tension … your body’s stress response.

At Practical Pelvis, we combine muscle-based rehab and nervous system retraining to help you heal, move, and live with confidence again. 💛

Birth prep isn’t just about perineal massage or learning how to effectively push…it’s also about planning out your ideal birthing environment for your mind and body 😏

In all seriousness, one thing we always chat with Birth Prep clients about is how to keep your nervous system calm during birth and a HUGE part of that is controlling your environment as much as possible 💆‍♀️✨

Is your pelvic floor is working evenly?
Here are 5 quick ways to check 👇

These little awareness checks tell you so much about how your body moves, breathes, and stabilizes.
And no, you don’t need an internal exam to start noticing patterns.

The key is awareness first ➡️ then retraining through breath, mobility, and strength.
Your body’s always giving clues - you just have to learn how to read and listen to them.

This was a real client story from the beginning days of Practical Pelvis and one that will always stick with me.

She came to me pregnant, frustrated, and tired of leaking every time she sneezed, coughed, or laughed. She was afraid of what postpartum would look like if she was already leaking in pregnancy. She also had nagging low back pain that just wouldn’t quit.

Everyone told her it was “normal” in pregnancy and that she probably just needed to strengthen her pelvic floor.

Her pelvic floor wasn’t weak… it was overworking.
Pregnancy had her body in protective mode. Her muscles were guarding to feel “safe” as her body changed.

We focused on downtraining, nervous system regulation, and gentle release work. In just one virtual visit (after she stayed consistent with her recommendations and home exercise program), her muscles finally had the range of motion to contract properly again.
Her leaking stopped. Her back pain eased. And her body started to trust itself.

We spent the next visit preparing her for birth and helping her pelvic floor learn how to yield and work with her body and baby, not against it.

As a first-time mom, she went on to have the calm, efficient birth she’d been hoping for (with no tearing!).

Healing isn’t always about doing more sometimes it’s about helping your body feel safe enough to let go.

✨ Every body and every pregnancy is different. This was one person’s story, and your experience may look different but it is possible to find relief and feel more connected to your body.

If you’re pregnant - I teach this and so much more inside my Prenatal Pelvic Floor Course, with individualized guidance to support you every step of the way.

Your pelvic floor wasn’t designed for desk chairs, tight shoes, or hours of sitting still 🪑👠 🚽 It was designed for movement, for walking, squatting, lifting, and living dynamically.

Modern life has us moving less and sitting more, which means the pelvic floor is often stuck doing jobs it was never meant to do: bracing, clenching, and compensating. Over time, that can show up as tension, leakage, pain, or pressure.

The good news is you can retrain your body to move the way it was designed to.

Here’s how to support your pelvic floor in today’s world:

✅ Move often - Squat, walk, carry, climb. Your pelvic floor loves variety.
✅ Check your posture, especially at your desk and on the toilet. Alignment affects pressure.
✅ Move in every direction - Twist, reach, sway, squat. Your pelvic floor loves variety.
✅ Go barefoot or wear minimal shoes when it’s safe. Reconnect your feet to the ground for better pelvic alignment.
✅ Ease daily strain - Support your core, manage pressure, and remember to breathe. Use a

Your pelvic floor is the foundation of your body. It supports how you move, stand, breathe, and even feel in your body.
Let’s start treating it that way 💪✨

Your pelvic floor doesn’t work in isolation …it’s part of a full-body system.
When your hips move well, your ribs expand with breath, and your posture supports alignment… your pelvic floor thanks you.

It’s not just about “pelvic floor exercises.” It’s about helping your whole body move and breathe in harmony …through dynamic, full-body strategies that integrate your core, hips, and breath.

Learning these strategies during pregnancy sets the foundation for a smoother pregnancy, more efficient delivery, and optimal postpartum recovery.

These are the same principles I teach in my Prenatal Pelvic Floor Course and are incorporated into our 1:1 sessions … helping you build confidence, strength, and support that truly lasts.
