As moms, the way we speak to ourselves matters more than we realize.

“I’m exhausted.” 😟
“I’m failing.”😓
“I’m behind.”😶

This new year, let’s gently shift that inner dialogue.

You can be tired and still doing an incredible job.😌
You can be overwhelmed and growing.🤩
You can be learning, healing, and showing up—one day at a time.😍

Kind words toward yourself aren’t indulgent—they’re essential.
They shape your mindset, your energy, and the way you move through life.

As you step into this new year, practice speaking to yourself with the same compassion you give to everyone else.

You deserve that kindness too. 💜

As we step into a new year, I want to remind all the mommas out there: you don’t need to compare your journey or your achievements to anyone else’s. Every season looks different, and that doesn’t make yours any less meaningful. You are doing the best you can with what you have—and that alone makes you amazing. 💜

The last couple of days have been a reminder from my body to slow down a bit. A sore throat, headache, and ear aches have been tagging along, so I’ve been leaning into fluids (eating soup and drinking lots of hot lemon water with honey), staying warm, and resting whenever I can. 🍵

So let me use this moment to gently remind YOU that it’s okay to slow down during this season—especially when you’re feeling run down. Your health deserves to be a priority. ☝🏻And even when life makes that hard, small acts of self-care matter. A warm cup of tea, an extra dose of vitamins, a few quiet moments to rest… they all help support healing and bring comfort.

Listen to your body. Rest is productive too. 🤍

A quick reminder tonight about the importance of keeping technology — especially WiFi and screens — out of the bedroom as much as possible. Our bedrooms should be spaces of rest, but blue light, constant notifications, and even the low-level signals from electronics can interfere with melatonin, disrupt deep sleep, and keep our nervous system more alert than it needs to be. 🤯

I also know this isn’t always possible for every family. In special needs households, having a monitor or device nearby can be essential, and there’s absolutely no guilt in that. Sometimes safety and peace of mind have to come first. 💜

But even then, we can still do our best to minimize exposure — keep devices across the room, turn off what isn’t truly needed, unplug the extras, and create the calmest space we reasonably can. 🧘🏻‍♀️

Small changes can make a big difference in how deeply we rest. Here’s to protecting our sleep one little step at a time. 🌙✨

🥳🥳🥳 Veggie Reveal Day 5!!!

🧐What it is:
That gorgeous spiral green veggie that looks like it’s from a sci-fi garden. Technically a cousin of broccoli and cauliflower.

• Supports immunity
• Packed with antioxidants

💪🏻How to prep:
Break it apart just like cauliflower.

🥣How to use:
• Roast with olive oil
• Steam and drizzle lemon

Veggie ID Reveal!!!
If you got this one right you surely frequent latin supermarkets because that's the only place in Florida I've ever found it. 👍🏻

🧐What it is:
A gnarly-looking root veggie that tastes like a mix of celery and potato. Don’t be scared by the rough exterior. It’s a softie inside.

💪🏻Why it’s good for your body:
• Low carb and high fiber
• Great for gut health
• Rich in antioxidants

🗡️How to prep:
Use a sharp knife instead of a peeler. Cut the ends off, stand it upright, and slice the skin away.

🥣How to use:
• Mash it like mashed potatoes
• Slice thin and roast
• Add cubes to soups and stews

👉🏻Try this:
Celeriac purée: simmer cubes in broth until soft, then blend with a little butter, garlic, salt and a pinch of nutmeg. Creamy heaven.

💡Bonus:
Choose ones that feel heavy and firm.

🥬Veggie Reveal Day 3: Meet Chicory/Radicchio

🌿 What it is:

A leafy vegetable from the dandelion family.

Comes in several varieties — curly endive, escarole, and the root (used as a coffee substitute).

Has a mild to strong bitter flavor that adds depth to dishes.

💚 Why it’s good for you:

Rich in antioxidants and vitamin K.

High in inulin, a prebiotic fiber that supports gut health and balanced blood sugar.

Bitterness stimulates digestion and supports liver health.

🍽️ How to use it:

Raw: Adds a bold, zesty bite to salads — pairs beautifully with citrus or apples.

Cooked: Sauté or grill to mellow the bitterness and bring out nutty notes.

Root: Roast, dry, and grind for a caffeine-free coffee alternative.

✨ Try this:
Toss chopped chicory with orange slices, walnuts, and a drizzle of olive oil and vinegar for a refreshing, balanced salad.

🥳🥳Veggie ID Challenge Reveals 🥳🥳🥳

🧐What it is:
A starchy root vegetable common in Latin, Caribbean, and Asian cooking. Kind of like a potato’s cool cousin.

💪🏻Why it’s good for your body:
• High-energy complex carbs
• Naturally gluten-free
• Supports gut health

👐🏻Important note:
Yucca must be cooked properly. Never eat it raw.

🗡️How to prep:
Cut off the ends, slice lengthwise, and peel off the thick brown rind. Boil until fork-tender.

🥣How to use:
• Mash it
• Make yucca fries
• Add to soups or stews

👉🏻Try this:
Yucca fries: boil until soft, cut into sticks, then pan-fry until golden and sprinkle with salt. So good.

💡Bonus:
Look for pieces that aren’t cracked or moldy.

🥳🥳🥳 Veggie Challenge Reveals 🥳🥳🥳

Day 1: Leeks

🧐What it is:
Leeks are in the onion family but much milder, sweeter, and way more elegant than their loudmouthed cousins.

💪🏻Why it’s good for your body:
• Supports digestion
• High in vitamin K and folate
• Awesome for heart health

👐🏻How to prep:
Slice off the dark green tops, cut lengthwise, and rinse between the layers. Dirt loves to hide in there like it’s on vacation.

🥣How to use:
• Add to soups for a gentle, sweet onion flavor
• Sauté with butter or olive oil as a base for any dish
• Mix into omelets, quiches, or stir-fries

👉🏻Try this:
Sauté thin slices in a little butter until soft. Add eggs and cheese. You’ve got the easiest “fancy breakfast” ever.

💚Bonus:
Leeks last longer than you think. Wrap loosely in a bag and keep in the fridge for up to a week.

Life is meant to be Activated!!!!

Sometimes we can get pulled down by the pressure of life, especially if you are in a difficult situation like I found myself in for a while. Being the step mom of 2 kids, one with special needs, working way too many hours and forgetting about my health and happiness led me to make some drastic changes and literally Activate myself from the inside out.

Its not an easy journey alone which is why I want to share what I have learned along the way and help you activate your life, body, mind, and spirit. Hopefully helping you find that smile that makes your face glow bright and your loved ones shine with you; because when Momma is happy - everything just flows a little better.

With love, Daisy V.
