Wayside staff were proud to attend Jane Doe Inc. LEAD Advocacy Day 2026.
Staff spent the day advocating for legislative priorities being advanced by Wayside and JDI by sharing program information and Clothesline Project T-shirts. They also spoke with the offices of Representative Brian Murray, Senator Rebecca Rausch, and Senator Robyn Kennedy, to discuss how supporting these priorities would strengthen safety, stability, and access to resources for the families we serve.

Join us for Supporting Youth Safety When Family Acceptance is Uncertain: A Training for Professionals on Responding When Coming Out Becomes a Crisis.

🎯 Training Objectives:
• Explore how unspoken expectations or value-based judgments can contribute to a youth’s decision to stay hidden, increasing feelings of shame, fear, and isolation.
• Promote self-awareness in providers as a critical step toward creating safe, affirming environments, where LGBTQ+ youth feel seen, supported, and free to live authentically
• Increase providers' skills, such as using Motivational Interviewing, to hold space with caregivers when acceptance is uncertain and create more safety when youth are experiencing mental health crises.
