Dr. Tawny Kross is a physical therapist specialized in chronic pain. She has nearly a decade of clinical experience working with patients, with extensive experience with Veterans who struggle with pain, multiple diseases, trauma, etc. and have not gained with traditional approaches to physical therapy. She is very passionate about patient empowerment and coaching patients to successfully and confidently take control of chronic pain and their health. Certifications:

You will love and benefit from working with me if you are ready to take action and make a change in your life. Life and behavioral changes do not happen passively. It’s not for you if you:

While Dr. Kross is skilled in manual therapy, including dry needling, this program is virtual only. If she decides that manual therapy is something you need as part of your recovery process, she will help you get connected with someone locally that can will be an asset to your treatment plan.

All programs are tailored to accountability and specific needs, but will be comprehensive to address all factors of chronic pain, including but not limited to sleep, stress, nutrition, exercise and pain neuroscience education. Basic program costs start at $1200 per month, with a 4-month commitment at minimum. The basic program incorporates 1 hour long coaching calls at least bi-weekly. Access to a medical doctor (DO) is also available once a month for consulting, as needed.

This is your opportunity to meet Dr. Kross to see if working with her is a perfect fit for what you need. The consultation will be a two-way: you will be interviewing her and she will be interviewing you! During the interview, Dr. Kross will ask you questions on the details of your story, including the things that have been helpful and not helpful on your chronic pain journey. If you decide at the end of the session that she has the privilege of working with you to help you regain back your quality of life, without your day being dictated by pain, then you will develop an action and strategy plan with her to help you accomplish all your goals.

Flexible minds translate to flexible bodies.

But flexibility isn’t just about stretching farther or moving better.

It’s your nervous system’s capacity to shift —
between effort and ease, control and trust, readiness and rest.

When the mind gets rigid, the body often follows.

Thoughts brace.
Muscles tense.
Both are trying to stay safe.

Over time, this creates a feedback loop:
The more we brace against life,
the tighter our system holds.
And the tighter it holds,
the more it forgets how to feel safe being soft.

Flexibility begins when we stop trying to force release
and start allowing more options … for thought, for breath, for movement, for meaning.

If you have to keep “relaxing,” your body doesn’t actually feel safe.

You stretch your neck.
You drop your shoulders.
You remind yourself to breathe.
And for a moment — it works.

Then your body tightens again.
It’s easy to think you’re doing something wrong.

But chronic tension isn’t a sign of that there’s something wrong with you or your muscles. Or your posture.

It’s a sign your system is still on alert.

Your body doesn’t need to be forced to relax.
It needs to trust that it’s safe to.

When we stop trying to “fix” tightness and start asking,
“What is this part protecting me from?”
we begin working with the body, not against it.

You’re not stuck — you’re stabilizing.

Your body knows how to survive.

It learned how to function under stress, push through, and keep things “steady.”

But management mode isn’t the same as thriving.
It’s the nervous system’s in-between phase —where safety is known intellectually, but not yet felt.

If this sounds familiar, be gentle with yourself.

Your system is still learning that safety doesn’t require vigilance.

💥 Just because you are calm doesn’t mean your nervous system feels safe. 💥

You’ve worked hard to get “regulated.”
You breathe. You journal. You move gently.

You’re not freaking out anymore and that IS progress.

But gonna also have to tell you …

Sometimes what looks like calm… is actually shutdown.
It’s like nervous system’s version of holding its breath.
It’s the PERFORMANCE of peace instead of the experience of it.

So you can look regulated and still feel empty.
You can have perfect morning routines and still live in quiet tension.

Because safety isn’t a 👀 look. It’s a felt sense.

And when the body doesn’t truly feel safe —
it won’t let you expand.

It’ll keep life small, predictable, and “manageable.” Nice and protected.

This means your system just hasn’t learned that safety can include aliveness.

So if you’ve been feeling “fine” but disconnected,
ask yourself:
👉 “Am I actually at peace — or just avoiding disruption?”
That question alone can start to unfreeze what’s been stuck.

✨Because real regulation isn’t the absence of stress —
it’s the capacity to stay connected through it.

✨ Part 3 of 3: Angry at the Healing Process ✨

😣 Ever felt angry that you’re doing everything right — and still not feeling better?

Angry that you have the awareness, the tools, the insight…
but your body isn’t catching up as fast as you want it to?

That anger makes sense.
It’s not resistance — it’s grief.
It’s fear that maybe healing won’t work for you.
That all the effort, all the hope, might not pay off.

But here’s what I want you to know 👇

Your anger at the process is a sign that you care.
It means your system wants safety, wants freedom — it just doesn’t fully trust that it’s possible yet.

When you meet that frustration with curiosity instead of judgment, something shifts.

The part of you that’s angry starts to feel seen, not silenced.
And that’s often when the nervous system starts to soften.

Healing doesn’t ask you to love the process.
It asks you to stay in conversation with it.

To listen when you want to give up.
To breathe when your body says, “Not yet.”
✨ Because that, too, is part of healing.

💭 Save this for the days when you’re tired of trying — and remember: your frustration doesn’t mean you’re failing.

It means you’re feeling, and that’s the nervous system learning safety again.

If you’ve ever felt angry at your body … you’re not doing healing wrong.

Anger is a sign that something in you is trying to be heard.
Not punished.
Not pushed away.
Heard.

Before you try to calm it, fix it, or rationalize it…
try asking:
“What is this anger trying to protect me from?”

Because that’s where the real conversation begins.

😤 Ever felt angry that pain seems to shrink your world?

Angry that you can’t do the things you used to love.
Angry that you have to plan your life around flare-ups.
Angry that everything feels so much smaller than it once did.
It’s easy to think that anger is the problem.

But what if it’s actually a clue?
👉 Anger is often born from fear.
Fear that life will always feel this small.
Fear that you’re losing pieces of yourself.
Fear that you’ll never get back to the version of you who felt alive and limitless.

Your nervous system doesn’t lash out for no reason — it’s trying to protect you from something that feels too vulnerable to face head-on.

And in the world of chronic pain, that “something” is often the deep fear and grief underneath those limitations.

When you stop treating anger as the enemy and start asking, “What is this trying to protect me from?” — you open a door to real healing.

Because here’s the thing: the same protective system creating anger is also creating pain.

And when you learn how to work with that system instead of against it, your world starts expanding again — not shrinking.
