One thing that surprises people about travel advisors: I spend a lot of time visiting hotels.

Photos can be beautiful, but they rarely show how a place actually feels. The atmosphere, the service, the little details that make a stay special.

When advisors visit a property, I’m paying attention to everything. The rooms, the location, the staff. Sometimes a hotel looks amazing online and feels underwhelming in person. Other times it completely exceeds expectations.

Those visits are how I know which places are truly worth recommending. So when I suggest a hotel, it usually comes from firsthand experience.

If you want recommendations that come from real experience, I’ll help you find the right places for your next trip.

One thing we’ve noticed recently: more travelers are asking for boutique hotels instead of large resorts.

Once you experience it, the difference is hard to go back from. Boutique properties feel more connected to the destination. Fewer rooms, more personality, and a level of attention that’s hard to replicate at scale.

Palma Riad in Mallorca is a great example.

With just 11 suites inside a restored residence in Palma’s old town, this kind of property opens doors to experiences you won’t find at larger resorts. The team knows the city well, from where to go for tapas that night to which streets are worth exploring the next morning.

If that’s what you’re looking for, we’ll help you find the right boutique stay and build the trip around it.

Cape Town is a dream destination. Ellerman House is the place to stay.

This isn’t a big resort. It’s a privately owned mansion turned 13-room hideaway overlooking the Atlantic in Bantry Bay. And the art? Museum-level. The owner is a serious collector, so you’ll find works by some of South Africa’s most important contemporary artists throughout the house.

Even the wine program feels personal. There’s an entire wine gallery on-site with thousands of South African bottles, and tastings are led by in-house sommeliers.

I love pairing this with a few nights in the Winelands or a safari extension, but honestly, many clients say this becomes the highlight of the trip.

London is incredible. It’s also enormous. Where you stay determines how it feels.

Hotel Café Royal has been hosting London society since the 1800s: Oscar Wilde, David Bowie, and Princess Diana. That history is still there, especially downstairs in the Oscar Wilde Bar with its perfectly mixed martinis.

You’re on Regent Street but insulated from the chaos. Soho for dinner. Mayfair for shopping. West End theaters are a short walk away. You can do three neighborhoods in one afternoon without calling a car.

The rooms? Properly soundproof, which seasoned London travelers appreciate. And don’t skip the Akasha wellness level. The pool is underground, and the hammam feels like something you’d expect in Istanbul, not central London.

If London is on your radar, this is a smart address to start with. Let’s start planning!

Time is the one thing you don’t get back on a trip, and protecting it is a big part of my job.

I plan itineraries that actually make sense on the ground, realistic drive times, smart arrival days, and pacing that doesn’t leave you exhausted. I flag things that look good online but don’t work in real life, and I build in flexibility so you’re not rushing from one thing to the next.

While you’re traveling, I’m working behind the scenes. Reconfirming transfers, adjusting plans when weather shifts, stepping in if a flight changes, and handling issues before they become problems. You don’t lose time on hold, in lines, or trying to figure out what to do next. That’s already been handled.

That’s what effortless travel actually looks like.

When someone tells me they want an “expedition trip,” my first question is always: What does that actually mean to you?

Expedition travel isn’t one thing. The word gets used a lot, but the experiences couldn’t feel more different:

The Arctic is about scale and silence. Massive ice formations, polar wildlife, and landscapes that make you feel very small in the best way.

The Amazon is immersive and layered. Early-morning skiff rides, canopy walks, pink river dolphins, and guides who can spot wildlife you’d never see on your own.

Safari is dynamic and emotional. Game drives at first light, expert trackers reading the land, and close wildlife encounters that genuinely shift perspective.

If an expedition is on your mind, let’s talk through what kind of experience would feel most like you.

AI can give you options. A travel advisor gives you judgment.

I bring context, timing, and real-world experience into every decision. I know which hotels quietly overdeliver, which itineraries look great on paper but fall flat in reality, and how to adjust when things change mid-trip.

AI can’t call a hotel GM, rework a route because of weather, or know when a destination is having a moment (or when it’s already overdone). I can, and I do.

Technology is a tool. Expertise is the difference.

What if the journey is the main event?

Canyon Spirit turns the American Southwest into a front-row experience.

Board in Denver. Step off in Salt Lake City three days later. In between, overnight stops in Glenwood Springs and Moab, with daylight hours dedicated to massive red rock canyons, winding rivers, and landscapes that feel almost unreal.

Private rail journeys through the Southwest are having a moment, especially with travelers who want something immersive without driving themselves through it. This isn’t a blur from 30,000 feet. It’s glass-domed rail cars, wide-open desert, and time to actually absorb it all.

It pairs beautifully with national park extensions or a few nights at a design-forward lodge before or after.

If you’re looking for a trip where the scenery is the headline, this is one to bookmark.

If you’re flying halfway around the world for turquoise water, let’s make it count.

Here’s the Maldives stay to bookmark: The Nautilus Maldives.

What makes it spectacular? The scale. Just 26 villas. Huge footprints. Thoughtful design. It consistently ranks among the top boutique private island resorts globally, and once you’re there, it makes sense.

The reef? Strong and directly accessible from your villa. The sunsets from the beach residences? The kind that quietly cancel your dinner reservations.

For a once-in-a-lifetime destination, this is the place to consider. Message me to learn more.

Sometimes luxury isn’t about where you go. It’s about who you don’t have to share it with.

Private villas, staffed estates, exclusive-use lodges, and yachts offer a level of flexibility hotels simply can’t. Your schedule, your chef, your pace, your priorities.

These trips work best when every detail is handled quietly behind the scenes, from staffing and logistics to experiences designed specifically for your group.

Pink sand really does exist, and it’s even better in person.

Coral Sands Hotel has been getting it right for decades. This is one of the original hotels on Harbour Island, family-owned and built directly into the dune, so nearly every room faces the water.

When I plan stays here, I like to lean into what makes this island different. A private boat out to the sandbars near Spanish Wells. Snorkeling off nearby reefs with almost no one else around. Lunch stops at tiny harborside spots. Dinner in town after a golf cart ride down Bay Street.

It works just as well for couples as it does for families, especially for travelers who want the Bahamas without cruise ships or crowds.
