They say imitation is the highest form of flattery… we tried but we just couldn’t duplicate the original! The time has come to say goodbye to our clinic aide Sam as he heads off to PT school at OIT. Sam has been an anchor for our team for the last 3 years, and we can’t believe he’s really leaving us. We know that we speak for all of the patients he’s helped over the years when we say, “Best wishes Sam!” We hope this is less of a goodbye, and more of a see ya later.

We are so proud of Loryn for presenting CSM this morning! Combined Sections Meeting is the largest national gathering of PTs year, where we come together for professional learning. Loryn was a co-presenter of a talk titled, “Pacing Not Pushing: A Physical Therapist’s Guide to Post-Exertional Malaise”. Congrats to Dr. Studer, and thank you for your dedication to educating other PTs on how to treat individuals living with PEM.

Did you know that 1 in 4 Spark patients are eligible for SNAP benefits? We have started a small food pantry at our clinic for those who need it. Take food if you have need, contribute non perishable food items if you can. We have toiletries available as well.

The Spark Team is happy to announce we will begin hosting the National MS Society's Central Oregon MS Support Group facilitated by our fantastic physical therapists, Hannah and Hailey!

It's a great way for individuals living with MS to connect through support, learning, and social interaction in the community.

Meetings start in October and will be on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:00-7:00pm. To RSVP or for more information, call us at 541-241-3061 or email MS@sparkrehabbend.com

Join our own PT, David Seck, as he and Kristine McConnel, Sr VP of Programs and Operations at Visit Central Oregon, discuss Active Aging in Central Oregon as part of Partners in Care's in-person community education series. They will be discussing what occurs as we age, what we can do about it, and what Central Oregon has to offer for opportunities to be active, inclusive, and joyful for all.

This weekend, our PT, Hailey, attended the House of Delegates in Washington DC as one of our Oregon representatives. This meeting is with 400 other state and chapter representatives to amend, introduce, and develop practice motions and bylaws for the physical therapy profession.

We are so proud to have her as part of our team at Spark as an advocate and leader for our profession! Way to go Hailey!

What is BURT? BURT uses state of the art GravityCradle technology to support your arm and allow you to maximize motor learning and control through gamification, which means it's fun! You will be amazed by weightlessness and freedom of movement felt, the ability to move your arm, and meaningful changes experienced in a short time.

BURT uses visual feedback and robot assisted technology to improve upper extremity control and drive neuroplasticity for those affected by neurologic conditions.

Spark is hosting BURT for a few weeks in June and we are holding upper extremity intensives for individuals to maximize their upper extremity recovery. Insurance based and cash based options are available.
