U-Step Neuro Walker The U-Step Walking Stabilizer is designed to increase independence and eliminate falling for those with neurological conditions (i.e. Parkinson Disease).

The U-Step provides more stability, maneuverability and control compared to other walking aids. Jonathan Miller’s mother was losing her independence due to a neurological condition that was affecting her walking ability. After she sought out help from physiatrists and physical therapists, who set her up with leg braces, a walker, and ten weeks of therapy, she was no better off. Jonathan envisioned a walker that surrounded the person, which led to the "U" shaped base. After making a few prototypes, he developed the first U-Step walker. Encouraged by a family physician that saw how well his mother walked with the U-Step, he was inspired to start In-Step Mobility to help people walk safely and stay as independent as possible. Thousands of people have benefited from Pauline Miller's walker, including a former U.S. President and one of the most famous boxers of all time.

Seeing this kind of excitement is always so rewarding. We love when people are able to be more mobile and independent when using the U-Step.

By placing the main turning wheels toward the middle of the base, the U-Step turns around in 29 inches as opposed to 50 inches for most other advanced walkers. This allows you to turn in tight indoor areas, such as washrooms, kitchens, and hallways. At 23 inches wide, you can easily walk through narrow doorways.

The U-Step was designed to increase independence and eliminate falling among those with neurological conditions. Its features make it superior compared to other walking aids by providing more stability, maneuverability and control. The U-Step is regularly prescribed by physicians and physical and occupational therapists from leading hospitals and rehabilitation centers.

We have multiple solutions for Parkinson's freezing, including the U-Step Neuro Walker with the Laser & Sound Cueing Module, the LaserCane and the LaserCue, developed with actor Michael J. Fox.

Our patented U-shaped base is ultra-stable and surrounds you to prevent you from falling. The U-Step's very low center of gravity, compared with regular rollators, ensures stability and helps prevent falls.

Our walkers are regularly prescribed by physicians and physical/occupational therapists for patients with neurological conditions. Why?
✔️Reversed braking system
✔️Rolling resistance control
✔️Spring-loaded front wheel
✔️Optional laser & sound cueing module

The U-Step's Laser & Sound Cueing Module helps patients lengthen their stride and normalize their gait.

Many people find that wheeled walkers roll too fast for them, so we engineered a control for setting the rolling resistance. Plus, the patented spring-loaded front caster system glides easily over uneven surfaces, such as cracks in sidewalks and indoor molding strips, to avoid sudden jolts.

Carolyn's Journey: From Fear to Confidence with the U-Step Walker

In March, Carolyn fell while in her home alone and broke her ankle. After leaving the hospital, Carolyn spent 2 months at a rehab facility, but she did not make much progress. “When I left rehab, I still could not stand up, put any weight on my feet, or even sit up unsupported." Because she was unable to move back home, Carolyn started working with Fox Rehabilitation's PT, Ashton Pyle, after moving to a senior living community. In therapy, Carolyn trialed many different pieces of adaptive equipment, including a standard walker and rollator walker. However, these walkers did not offer her the support she needed, and she was very fearful of falling. As someone living with MS, she became discouraged and didn't think she would ever walk again. Ashton introduced the U-Step walker with Carolyn. At first, she was very hesitant. But, after 4 months of hard and consistent work with the U-Step, she became more confident with her walking and started incorporating using the U-step with daily activities. After seeing her progress, Carolyn decided to purchase her own U-step. “I’m definitely getting better – therapy has been a good thing for me. My therapists have been working on helping me to stand up, walk, get out of bed, and complete self-cares more independently. The furthest I’ve walked is 190 feet! I’m proud of my progress.” - Corinne Holland from Fox Rehabilitation
