We’re excited to announce the proponent testimony for HB 537 is happening next Wednesday, March 18th.

This bill could positively affect the lives of thousands of Ohio families and help to spread positive change in this country (we could certainly use some of that). 🇺🇸🫶

We’re asking you once again to help a part of this monumental moment. You can contribute by submitting your testimony by email or in person, or even just sharing this post.

Every share helps!

Let’s face it: the American health system is broken. The U.S. has the highest maternal mortality rate among developed nations.

According to the CBC 80% of those deaths were preventable….

It’s time we take matters into our hands.

Submit your proponent testimony to info@unitedbirthcoalition.org today or join us for a hearing next Wednesday at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, more details to follow.

You know that saying “Midwives save lives”, it’s time we take that fact seriously. Over 600,000 people don’t have access to maternity care in a state with some of the lowest ranking maternity care. Opening the birth center would change that!

We need your help! All it takes is 5 minutes of your time to write and send your own testimony. With another hearing next week, all testimonies must be submitted to info@unitedbirthcenter.org by March 16th.

The goal is simple: clearly explain who you are, why you support the bill and why lawmakers should vote for it.

Tips:
-Keep it short and respectful
-Lead with your story, legislators respond strongly to personal stories and real examples
-State clearly that you support the bill
-Explain how the bill solves a problem

Thank you all for your support this year! We truly appreciate every like and comment we get, engaging in our content goes a long way to show your support. 🫶

Please consider sending a letter of support to pass house bill 537 which would license certain categories of midwives in Ohio and allow the Cincinnati Birth Center and other centers to open up fully as a freestanding birth center.

You can send a written testimony to info@unitedbirthcoalition.org by March 16th.

Thank you once again, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2026! 🤎🐎

Sincerely,
The CBC team

Doing a home visit at thirty six weeks gestation where we plan out closest and most preferred hospital in a transfer situation (often not the same thing) and going over transfer plans with clients is a critical step in keeping home birth safe. Each plan should map out the distance to the closest hospital with maternity services and the method of contacting the receiving provider at the hospital.

We believe you know what's best for yourself and your baby. You drive the car. We can give you directions based on our experience and knowledge but ultimately you are the main decision maker and know what's best for yourself. That means if you want to decline routine blood work, testing, and ultrasounds, that's ok. No judgement.

Most of the time hospital transfers are not emergent or urgent but because the labor is longer and the mother needs an epidural for pain relief and rest.
