Westside Eyecare Associates & Fashion Optical David E. D'Amico, O.D. After completing his Bachelor of Science degree at St. Felix Church social ministry group.

John Fisher College (1982), he went on to receive his Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University (1986). Dr. D'Amico practiced for many years in a large group setting in Chili Center, but recently decided to venture back to his preferred venue. On February 21, 2011, Westside Eyecare Associates opened their offices in Rochester, New York (Chili Center). Westside Eyecare Associates is a smaller private office where comprehensive care is delivered in a personal, professional manner. Since 1986, Dr. D'Amico has been an active member of the Rochester Optometric Society, New York State Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, as well as Beta Sigma Kappa honors fraternity. Outside of the office, he enjoys gardening, cooking, horseback riding, and is an active volunteer with the Midlakes High School Theatre Experience, the Ontario County 4-H horse program, and St. A lifelong resident of the Rochester area, Dr. D'Amico now makes his home in Clifton Springs, New York, with his wife, Mary, and children Joseph and Laura.

A fascinating new study reveals that humans can communicate more than we realize using only our eyes. Researchers found that the brain can detect when someone moves their eyes intentionally versus accidentally, even when the difference is almost invisible. Participants in the study could predict the direction of an intentional gaze milliseconds faster, proving that our minds are tuned to read purpose and emotion in even the smallest movements.

The study also discovered subtle facial muscle shifts just before a person chooses where to look, hinting that we subconsciously sense intention through these micro-signals. Scientists believe this insight could deepen our understanding of human connection and help explain how people interpret (or miss) social cues, especially in conditions like autism or ADHD.

✨👁️ Australian Scientists Develop First Fully Functional Bionic Eye Restoring Vision

A revolutionary breakthrough in vision technology has emerged from Australia. Scientists have successfully created the world’s first fully functional bionic eye capable of restoring vision in humans. This incredible development could transform the lives of millions who suffer from blindness or severe visual impairment.

The bionic eye works by converting visual information into electrical signals that directly stimulate the optic nerve, allowing the brain to interpret images. Unlike previous prototypes, which offered limited vision or only partial light perception, this new device provides a more detailed, real-time visual experience. Early trials have shown patients regaining the ability to perceive shapes, movement, and even basic facial features, dramatically improving their independence and quality of life.

This innovation is a giant leap beyond traditional treatments for blindness, such as corneal transplants or retinal implants. While those approaches often rely on the presence of remaining healthy tissue, the bionic eye can bypass damaged structures entirely, offering hope to patients who previously had no options.

The research team combined cutting-edge bioengineering, artificial intelligence, and advanced neural interfaces to achieve this milestone. Their work demonstrates the incredible potential of merging human biology with technology, creating devices that not only replace lost function but actively restore it.

Beyond restoring sight, the bionic eye also represents a new frontier in neuroprosthetics, showing that advanced implants could one day enhance human perception and interaction with the world. The possibilities are vast, from treating neurological disorders to enhancing everyday senses.

This discovery reminds us that human innovation is limitless. What was once science fiction is now reality, and the dream of restoring vision for those in darkness has finally been realised.

What other 'science fiction' technologies do you think will become a reality in our lifetime? How does this merging of biology and technology make you feel?
