We’re going to try something new here and start sharing yoga poses from time to time. Traditional poses, their benefits, and ways to get in and out of the pose so it works for your body.

Today’s pose is Viparita Karani, legs up the wall.

This gentle inversion is known to calm the nervous system, ease tension and fatigue in the legs, and support circulation. It’s deeply restorative and is said to support lymphatic flow, reduce stress, and encourage relaxation.

If your nervous system could use a pause, this one’s for you.

As always, check with your healthcare provider to be sure yoga is appropriate for you. If you’re new to yoga or unfamiliar with these poses, consider practicing with the guidance of an experienced instructor.

Welcome - New Yoga Teacher ❤️

We’re so happy to officially welcome Barb Haske to The Yoga Lounge teaching staff.

Barb has been subbing regularly at the studio and is a dedicated practitioner who we all know and love dearly. We’re excited for her to step into a more consistent role with our community.

She will be teaching a new four week Yoga Basics series beginning Friday, March 6 at 9:00am. More details coming soon.

Barb will also be taking over our Wednesday 12:15pm Gentle Yoga class starting April 8.

About Barb:

I am honored to be a member of the wonderful Yoga Lounge community. From the moment I walked in the door, I felt at peace and at home. I also felt such gratitude that the studio honors the traditional teachings of yoga and holds deep reverence for its roots. I believe this atmosphere is what compelled me toward becoming a yoga teacher. I completed my 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training this past April 2025.

I am a retired elementary teacher and I bring my passion for teaching and sharing into my yoga teaching. Together, we will practice mindfulness, breath work, and meditation, along with guided and safe alignment of the yoga asanas. I believe that yoga is life changing and I will strive to help everyone in my class feel safe and comfortable enough to explore their practice.

Yoga is a mind, body, spirit connection. These positive changes have the power to follow you off the mat and into your daily life.

As Deborah Adele from the “Yamas and Niyamas” reminds us: “Yoga extends far beyond doing yoga postures. It is literally a way of living. There is nothing to figure out ahead of time. There is only a life to live well. The result is nothing less than joy.”

Please join us in giving Barb a warm welcome. We’re so grateful to have her as part of our teaching team. ❤️

“Let’s get loose with compassion. Let’s drown in the delicious ambiance of love.” - Hafiz

So much of our culture teaches us to focus on the external. Fixing, comparing, improving, measuring.

The message underneath it all is that we are somehow never enough.

Yoga offers a different way. It invites us to turn inward and experience the body not as a problem to solve, but as something beautiful and magical to be in relationship with.

Through compassionate movement, breath, and stillness, yoga helps us live with love. We learn to listen to the body, to trust it, and to work with it. When the body becomes an ally rather than an adversary, things begin to shift. We feel less stressed. The nervous system settles. We become kinder to ourselves, and often kinder to others. We feel more open, resilient, and at ease.

What does living with love look like for you?

Have you ever been in downward facing dog and thought…how exactly am I supposed to get up to the top of the mat? You’re not alone.

This transition isn’t always easy, and that’s okay! There are so many creative, supportive ways to move from downward dog to standing forward fold. I’m sharing a few of my go to options today.

Try them out and let me know what you think. 😊

This Sunday, 1-4pm, Clothing & Anything Swap Party!

Join us for a day of relaxation, laughter, and connection as we mingle and swap clothes, shoes, books, jewelry, kitchenware, and any other accessories you no longer need, use, wear, or love. It’s the perfect chance to declutter your closet, drawers, and home while discovering some new treasures!

How It Works: Bring the items you no longer use, need, or love and exchange them with friends. Think of it as a free thrift day in great company!

All leftover items will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.

What to Bring:

- Items to Swap – Clothes, accessories, books, kitchenware, or anything you’d like to pass along.
- A Vegetarian or Vegan Snack Plate – We’ll create a potluck-style tapas snack table to enjoy together.
- Your Favorite Drink to Share
- A Small Table – This will help display your items for swapping.

Please email yogaloungensb@gmail.com to let us know what snack you’ll bring.

We’re so excited to spend this fun-filled day with you. Let’s swap, snack, and socialize—see you there!
