🍂 A Perfect Autumn Outing! 🍁

Residents from Heritage Community’s Independent Living neighborhoods enjoyed a beautiful fall day exploring Celery Flats in Portage! The crisp air, colorful leaves, and peaceful trails made for the perfect autumn walk. 🌳👟

There were smiles, stories, and plenty of laughter along the way — a wonderful reminder of how much joy can be found in staying active and connecting with nature and friends. 💛

🎃 Congratulations to Our Pumpkin Decorating Winners! 🎃

The results are in for the Meilland Square Pumpkin Decorating Contest — and this year’s champions are Kaliah and Yolanda, a talented cook and server from our Dining Services team! 👏🍽️

Their creativity, teamwork, and attention to detail made their pumpkin stand out among a field of fantastic entries. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this friendly fall competition so much fun! 🍂✨

🎃 Pumpkin Carving Party at Hawthorn Landing! 🎃

Hawthorn Landing was full of creativity, laughter, and a little friendly competition during our annual Pumpkin Carving Party! Residents gathered to scoop, carve, and decorate their masterpieces—ranging from classic jack-o’-lanterns to clever, one-of-a-kind designs.

It was the perfect way to celebrate the season together with good conversation, and plenty of fall spirit. 🍂✨

🐦✨ Today, October 23, marks Swallows Depart from San Juan Capistrano Day — a celebration of one of nature’s most famous migrations. Each fall, the swallows take flight from the Mission San Juan Capistrano in California, beginning their 6,000-mile journey south for the winter.

At Heritage Community of Kalamazoo, we’re inspired by the swallows’ journey — a reminder that every season of life brings new directions, transitions, and purpose. Just as the swallows return home each spring, our residents remind us how meaningful it is to find a place where you feel rooted, valued, and at home.
