Today, we proudly celebrated Veterans Day alongside our residents, families, and friends. We gathered to honor the brave men and women who have served our country — including several of our very own residents who are veterans.

The celebration included a special pinning ceremony reminding us of all of the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who have protected our freedom.

🎉 Happy Birthday, Ida! 🎉

We recently had the joy of celebrating a very special birthday for our beloved long-term resident, Ida!
Originally from Ecuador and one of nine siblings, Ida came to the United States many years ago to be closer to her sister Noemi and build a new life. Her journey has been one of love, service, and faith.
Ida is known by her family and friends as a selfless, caring soul who always put others first. A devoted Catholic, she made sure she prayed the Rosary every day. When she wasn't caring for her family or attending Mass, she enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and dancing.
We've had the privilege of caring for Ida since 2011, and it was truly an honor to celebrate this wonderful milestone with her family, friends, and our staff!

Skilled Nursing Care Week Spotlight 🌟
As we continue celebrating the people who make up the fabric of our community, today we’re excited to feature Elaine Reed.

Elaine’s career journey included light housekeeping and managing a switchboard — roles that reflect her hard work and dedication. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, watercolor painting, watching movies, and catching episodes of her favorite show, Blue Bloods.

One of Elaine’s most cherished memories is visiting her parents’ homeland, Greece. She’s fluent in Greek, attended Greek School, and has celebrated both Greek and American holidays throughout her life.

Since coming to Alden, Elaine was thrilled to meet another Greek resident and has found joy in connecting with others during holiday parties, trivia games, and Scrabble matches.

We’re so grateful to have Elaine as part of our community and to celebrate her story during National Skilled Nursing Care Week.
