LEAP - Leadership Empowerment Advocacy Program The youth initiative of the PEAL Center. LEAP stands for Leadership, Education and Advocacy Program. Our Goals:
1.

The mission of the PEAL Center is to ensure that children, youth, and adults with disabilities and special health care needs lead rich, active lives and participate as full members of their schools and communities. LEAP, created by the PEAL Center, is a youth and young adult development and leadership program founded to support youth to have successful transitions into adult life and full access to all opportunities related to transition, leadership and self-advocacy. YOUTH DEVELOPMENT- Youth will know who they are, possible supports, and self-worth (self-awareness/self-acceptance)

2. INTRINSIC LEADERSHIP - Youth will have a voice in decisions made about their lives and direct their futures (self-advocacy/self-determination)

3. EXTRINSIC LEADERSHIP - Youth will positively influence others and improve systems and service delivery (leadership)

Youth Leadership Development

Youth Leadership Development prepares youth and young adults with disabilities and special health care needs for successful transition to adulthood.

Youth Leadership Development at the PEAL Center provides trainings and presentations in collaboration with agencies statewide to prepare youth and young adults to become effective self-advocates throughout transition into adulthood.
