Self Awareness Training

Learning your ABC's can help you increase your awareness of what is causing you to feel a certain way. Most of us believe it is the situation that causes us to feel a certain way but in reality it is our THOUGHTS that trigger our feelings. The late legendary psychologist formulated the ABC's of emotions many years ago.
A is the activating event ( Stuck in Traffic ) , B is what you tell yourself about the event (this sucks, it's awful, I'll be late and that's terrible) C is the feeling your THOUGHTS cause ( anger, frustration). TOUGH TIMES NEVER LAST TOUGH PEOPLE DO

Dr.Robert Schuller's best selling book written in 1984, has never had more importance than it does today. We need to remember that most adversity in our lives is TEMPORARY, not permanent AND the there are strategies we can learn and practice to help us become more resilient. How does food affect your Mood?

Increasing research indicates eating a whole foods, plant based diet can reduce depression along with improving physical health.While we can't always control the stressors in our lives we can balance our ability to cope by eating a healthy diet and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. You can put it to the test for yourself by keeping a "Food and Mood" journal. Keep a record of what you eat and how you feel ( anxiety, depression,anger, fear, worry) for a month or two and notice what you observe. Then, make those positive changes in your diet and continue to track your moods. See what works for you.

Yoga for Emotional Health

The news never really changes. It is strongly tilted towards all the bad things that happen to us and the world. The more you listen, watch or read the news the more likely you will come away feeling emotions like anger, frustration, fear and sadness. To a large extent, the phrase, "no news is good news"is a rational approach to maintaining positive mental health.

The Healing Power of Music
Research supports what most of us knew intuitively: Music can impact our mood. The right music can motivate, inspire and "pump us up" while other music can help sooth us and calm us down. For me the old soulful ballad by the Drifters, Up On the Roof" does it. Cheers!
