Never stop learning

We are always excited when we have to attend training because it’s a welcome break from our daily work routine, plus we get to spend a day or two in a hotel with buffet lunch and snacks.
But why do companies regularly invest on employee training?
Because it’s good for them in the long-term.
They get better employees with updated skills and knowledge, and rarely do they leave after, especially if they’re happy at work.
And it’s the same for you.
When you continuously learn and improve, you become better equipped and more efficient at reaching your goals and achieving success.

Everyday Review

This practice can encourage self-reflection and provide a great way over time to track your progress towards a goal. When you're a writer you 're getting bonus points. The blank screen will prompt you to turn up. Just be careful not to ruminate, without the skill of learning.

Write a short early-day entry on what you are doing and what will make it a success.

Study what you've done, what went and at the end of the day what didn't work. You should ask yourself a series of questions, such as, "What good did I do this day?" To measure your success, and to decide what to work on next.

Cognitive Empathy

People also possess the power of cognitive empathy, the capacity to understand another's perspective. I can guess what you are likely thinking in any given situation.

Cognitive empathy is a perspective-taking process. If I see you get rejected for a promotion at work, I can put myself in your shoes. I can accurately guess what you are thinking and planning to do in response. This ability to mentalize or model the thoughts of others allows us to anticipate what is going to happen next in social situations.

Calcium-rich foods for healthy bones and more

Build your bone strength and prevent heart diseases by simply incorporating these calcium-rich foods in your diet.
The most abundantly-available nutrient in our body, calcium also happens to be abundantly critical for maintaining bone strength.
Calcium is also necessary for maintaining healthy communication between the brain and other parts of the body and this essential nutrient positively enables muscle movement and cardiovascular function.
Calcium reduces hypertensive disorders, prevents osteoporosis, and keeps cholesterol in check.
The recommended daily intake of the mineral stands at 1000 mg.
While milk is our most conventional source of calcium, i.e., 125 mg of calcium per 100 ml of milk, there are other food sources that are equally rich in calcium if not more.

Foods to elevate your mood:
Bananas

Bananas can help turn up a frown. They are rich in vitamin B6, which helps to synthesize neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin that feel good. In addition, one big banana (136 grams ) contains 16 grams of sugar and 3.5 grams of fibre.

When paired with fibre, sugar is slowly released into your bloodstream, allowing for stable levels of blood sugar and better mood control. Excessively low blood sugar levels can cause irritability and mood swings.

Finally, this ubiquitous tropical fruit is an excellent source of prebiotics, particularly when still showing green on the peel, a form of fiber that helps feed healthy bacteria in your gut. Higher levels of mood disorders are associated with a healthy gut microbiome.

Habits of super organized people:
Purging your schedule to build efficient routines

It can be tough to get things done when you feel as though your schedule is taking over your life. Purging your schedule once in a while, monthly or quarterly, saves you time and helps you achieve your goals as planned.
The aim of a productivity purge is to reduce unnecessary repetition and improve your autopilot routines. It’s an opportunity to analyze every task or action, and identify items you can move around, delegate, slice, spread out, or even stop working on right away if it’s not helping you get closer to your goals.
The productivity purge is a necessary piece of project gardening. By doing these regularly, you keep yourself focused on what’s important. You get at least one month after every purge in which serious work gets done on a small number of projects.
It might seem irrelevant and unimportant to set aside time to pause and purge unnecessary tasks from your routine when you have a lot to do. But that time to analyze your routine, measure your results and make that important change may be the fresh start you need to get more done.

The impact of good health

You know that healthy habits, such as eating well, exercising, and avoiding harmful substances, make sense, but did you ever stop to think about why you practice them? A healthy habit is any behavior that benefits your physical, mental, and emotional health. These habits improve your overall well-being and make you feel good.

Healthy habits are hard to develop and often require changing your mindset. But if you’re willing to make sacrifices to better your health, the impact can be far-reaching, regardless of your age, s*x, or physical ability.

Bad habits are hard to break, but once you adopt a healthier lifestyle, you won’t regret this decision. Healthy habits reduce the risk of certain diseases, improve your physical appearance and mental health, and give your energy level a much needed boost. You won’t change your mindset and behavior overnight, so be patient and take it one day at a time.

Ina Garten’s potato salad
The best potato salad if you want an easy classic
Overall rating : 9.5/10

Ingredients:
😊3 pounds small white potatoes
😊Kosher salt
😊1 cup mayonnaise
😊1/4 cup buttermilk
😊2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
😊2 tablespoons whole-grain mustard
😊1/2 cup chopped fresh dill
😊Freshly ground black pepper
😊1/2 cup chopped celery
😊1/2 cup chopped red onion

Preparation:
😊Place the potatoes and 2 tablespoons of salt in a large pot of water. Bring the water to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, until the potatoes are barely tender when pierced with a knife. Drain the potatoes in a colander, then place the colander with the potatoes over the empty pot and cover with a clean, dry kitchen towel. Allow the potatoes to steam for 15 to 20 minutes.
😊Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, buttermilk, Dijon mustard, whole grain mustard, dill, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of pepper. Set aside.
😊When the potatoes are cool enough to handle, cut them in quarters or in half, depending on their size. Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl. While the potatoes are still warm, pour enough dressing over them to moisten. Add the celery and red onion, 2 teaspoons of salt and 1 teaspoon of pepper. Toss well, cover, and refrigerate for a few hours to allow the flavors to blend. Serve cold or at room temperature.

Yield : 6 to 8 servings

Finding the joy

A healthy life shouldn't feel like so much damned work. If it does, then you'll likely not stick with your new behaviors for too long.

Rather than taking some generic route to health, figure out what you can do to support a healthy life that also fits your personality, and empowers and excites you. When you design your life around things you love to do, i.e., activities that are uplifting and fun, it will stop requiring so much effort.

Once you find the joy in living healthy, that's when the lifestyle will stick.

Grapes: How you know these foods are expired

If you’ve ever accidentally tasted a grape gone bad, you know it.
Save your taste buds the agony by sniffing for freshness.
Expired grapes will have a dirty, vinegar-like smell, usually accompanied by the odd brown, mushy grape here or there.

Starting with cognitive goals

When people set out to improve their health, they often think about action. Eat better, meditate, run more. But the truth is that getting healthy starts in your head.
If you don't feel ready to take an action step forward, don't worry. Just focus on cognitive goals, where you gather information, think about your options, consider the benefits of change versus staying the same, and map out how you might best integrate new healthy behaviors in your life.
In due time, you'll feel ready to take an action step forward, and the cognitive work you've done will pay off.
