Getting to know Dr. Kate Patterson 🌟

As our new CPA President, Dr. Kate Patterson brings over a decade of leadership in Connecticut's mental health community.

Dr. Patterson earned her doctorate from Antioch University New England in 2013 and has since made significant contributions to psychology training and clinical leadership. She served as Clinical Director of the Lillian Reba Moses Child Guidance Clinic and led behavioral health teams through the pandemic as On-Site Director for Middletown and Clinton from 2020–2024. Her commitment to the next generation of psychologists is evident through her work piloting CHC's practicum program and co-chairing the Northeast Regional Psychology Conference.

In her clinical practice in Cheshire, she works with individuals across the lifespan, with special interests in family systems and adolescent perfectionism.

We're fortunate to have her experience, dedication to training, and collaborative spirit guiding CPA forward.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Derek Fenwick 🙏

As we move forward with new leadership, we want to take a moment to recognize Dr. Derek Fenwick's service to CPA.

Derek stepped into the role of President ahead of his designated term when our organization needed steady leadership. His willingness to serve during a time of transition and his dedication to CPA's mission have been invaluable.

Leadership isn't just about the title—it's about showing up when called upon. Derek did exactly that, and our community is stronger because of it.

Thank you, Derek, for your commitment, your time, and your service to Connecticut's psychological community.

We wish you all the best in your continued work! đź’™

Our 2025 CPA Convention keynote speaker, Dr. Marlene B. Schwartz, shared why psychologists are essential to shaping public policy.
A Professor of Human Development and Family Sciences and Director of the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Health at UConn, Dr. Schwartz’s career bridges psychology, nutrition, and public health to advance well-being and equity through evidence-based policy.

Her remarkable leadership demonstrates how psychologists can translate research into real-world solutions that build healthier, more just communities.
