What if the first thing you do after you wake up in the morning is giving thanks for a new day, for a new opportunity to be alive, one to share your most precious authentic self with those around you?🙏❤️

Appreciating the little things in life, seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary and being thankful for it, is one of the best practices you can incorporate to improve the quality of your life. It’s a habit that grows stronger with use and practice.

Dare to practice it every day, all day, and you’ll see that it will change the way you perceive the world, making it a safe, loving, fair world, for you and me.

Backbends are a great way to counteract the way we, or at least the majority of us, hold our bodies when standing or sitting throughout the day, mostly hunched over our phones🤳🏻, at hour desks 🖥️, or while we perform our daily activities in general.

When we practice them (backbends), we open up the front of our bodies as we engage the muscles in the back side of our bodies, strengthening both at the same time. For that reason they are a great option for those who suffer from back pain 😣specially in the lower back area.

I post a few basic backbend yoga poses, some that require less range of motion some that require more, although there are much more (i.e. locust pose, puppy pose, cow pose, seal) and you can even add a backbend variation to pretty much any other asana. They all are beneficial as long as you practice them mindfully and respecting your own limitations.

Remember to breathe 😮‍💨 softly and allow your breath to guide you. If you’re feeling like you’re holding your breath or it gets short, evaluate the possibility of slowly releasing the pose.
